You must be tall - it's outside of my field of vision most of the time.
Well, I'm 6' 1" so I guess I'm above average height but not by much. I'd have to slouch a lot to get it out of my view. It's also a pain in the butt on mountain roads when you're turning right around tight corners and you want to see what's coming up.

Is this box larger than the tech in other vehicle/brands?

Ya know I've not really paid attention to the same devices on my wife's Jeeps - or my son's Compass. When she gets home later tonight I'll have to check her WK2 out.
It may be larger on these because of the fact the windshield folds away - and they have a cover to put over the radar and camera when you have the windshield down.

Have you tried lowering your seat?

I know that the one in the Renegade is just stupidly big for the size of the windshield. A lot of it could be that it needs more area because the windshield is almost vertical instead of sloped.

All these tech problems and yet people still want to let Elon wire up their brain. Enjoy these next couple years gents, they may well be the peak of mankind.

Mine went off unexpectedly today while driving through a parking garage, luckily I was only doing 5 MPH. The odd thing is that I'm sure that I turned it off a long time ago after the first time I experienced it.

Not truck related, but sadly, that's how it feels.
What goes up must come down right? America sent men to the moon for crying out loud. Now America can’t even figure out who uses what bathroom.

man, I didn’t think at 20 that I’d be this much of a curmudgeon at 36, but what can ya do?

I've had forward collision assist in my wife's car for 6 years. Its never once malfunctioned. It will occasionally warn me when it thinks something is up, when its not.

But its never stabbed the brakes other than when I was actually in danger of rear ending someone. (I spilled my coffee on myself, took my eyes off the road and the car in front stabbed his brakes in reaction to a light that turned yellow when he was 10 ft from the intersection - guilty as charged).

And even then, the second I lifted my foot off the brake, the car drove away normally. None the worse for wear.

I suspect its the young guys saying "I'm a driver, I don't need anything that helps me".

yeah. I'm a driver to. I've road raced motorcycles or cars at various times in my life for over 20 years. But life has distractions. Coffee spills. Babies cry. etc. We all make mistakes. I have come to realize that machines are unblinking. They fail differently than humans. So the combination of one backing the other up is a great package.

I suspect the older guys will agree with me.

Lol I think you've got it backwards and most of the old guys are the ones who don't like the extra tech and the younger snowflakey ones do. I love tech, don't get me wrong, but not to take over for me where I can't intervene. Sometimes when that bicycle gets in front of me in the city I really DO mean to push the throttle and not the brake.

@MattK Have you tried being shorter? I've heard using a military grade ejection seat works wonders for spinal compression, about 1 inch.

Haha! I’ll head over to Miramar Air Station and have them launch me out of an ejection seat while it’s still inside the hanger. I don’t think 6’1” is that tall these days myself. If I had to do it again I just would never the ACC but it’s not going to send me to a dealership to trade it in after a year of using it. It’s awesome on coast to coast road trips.

Have you seen the threads about people having AMAZING trade in's right now? You may have equity and be able to shave a few extra grand off getting a new Jeep. And yes, I'm serious if you look at those threads. Might be worth a look if it bothers you.

It does have radar and a camera both. It uses the radar for ACC, collision prevention, etc. That's how it tells if the vehicle ahead of you is moving faster or slower, and the distance.

My wife has had all of that on every Jeep she's owned that had it available at the time of purchase. We have never had it malfunction. I've had it save our butt when an idiot in the left lane swerved over in front of us and hit the brakes to turn faster than a human could have reacted - it worked great, but it's not malfunctioned in any of our vehicles.
There's no way in hell a human could have seen that moron pull over like that as fast as he did. He's one of those that refuses to fall back and go behind you to make a turn he was about to miss (typical of Iowa) - he just HAD to pull around us. Was happy we had it. Freaked my wife out like crazy.
You sure that the Wrangler/Glady has the radar module? I know the GC has it, but I never did find it on my wrangler. I am almost certain it is light based only.

Systems that work well, work well. Usually those are the ones with radar in the front bumper.

Happened to me and my wife twice! Was horrible and wildly dangerous. Perfectly clean windshield, nothing that should have triggered it. It will be a lawsuit once it causes a death. Turned it off now. Still using adaptive cruise control for gas mileage reasons.
