Exactly, I take what YT channels have to say with a grain of salt. They make more money doing what their viewer want than if they did what THEY wanted. And that's the point, they're "influencers" yet their income is influenced by whether their views get to see what they want to see.

And don't forget, Bronco guys that ACTUALLY do hardcore offroad usually end up trading for a wrangler. Most people buy the Bronco for it's looks and features, not abilities.

OP, have you test driven any of those vehicles yet?

Exactly... Even a mommy car will leave the raptor in its rear view mirror on the highway, and you don't even get a real off-road vehicle out of it. Again, a world class dirt road overland cushy machine and if that's his purpose then he should have bought this before he spent all his money on a built up Jeep. It is MUCH better suited for that.

So I just watched the video, the most challenging thing on that video was listening to the two douchebags in it. Running down a bunch of wet FSRs in a vehicle that used to be a pure road vehicle and the factory threw in better shocks, a HUGE sticker on the side and stouter tires and then feeling comfortable saying it's a better truck that something that is ACTUALLY built for off-roading ... Damn that's a stretch. I did get a good laugh when they put in in 4L to get through a tiny mud rut and a shallow creek. In summary It pains me I gave them the click.

And to the OP, if the Raptor is better suited for what you want to do then why would you come to a Jeep Forum to have folks give you reasons why not to do the switch?!?!? Go trade in your Gladiator for the vehicle you're now in love with and go hang with the other Raptor owners. I'm sure the 3 guys in that forum will love swapping tales of camping in Walmart parking lots with you!

I'll say, when it comes to more difficult off roading, it amuses me immensely to see folk in IFS vehicles go into full panic mode when their stuff starts abruptly teetering and balancing over relatively mild obstacles because it has no flex, and then a JT or JL traverses the same thing without so much as a raised eyebrow because it can keep the tires on the ground and stay more stable.

I often consider keeping my Gladiator until pay off and then trading in the car on another midsize truck so I can have my cake and eat it too.

Take the Gladiator for more technical adventure.

Get a Canyon AT4/Denali for daily driving and dirt road trips.

This is real!! Teaching my wife competency off-road in a 4Runner is not easy but hers actually does have some articulation. Not solid axle articulation but some. We’re chasing down ways to improve it short of changing her out to solid axles from a JLR or something. Maybe after the warranty expires we’ll look into that. It’s doable, just not done often.

I really think comparing the Ranger Raptor to the Gladiator (idk, the Mojave?) for this is a bit like comparing buttholes to elbows.

They both are qualified to be offroad, and both have their strong suits.

The good news though, is that Casey 250 is living rent free in a lot of heads now, and some more folks will go watch his videos.

And that monetization train will keep chooching along, buying whatever he wants, and he can church that up however he likes I reckon.

I can't afford fancy ass twin turbo SUV's to sit on here and measure johnsons about.

But I bet my ole lady can cook a better gumbo than yalls ole lady.

The engine is a show-stopper for me. It's also the same reason I preferred to pick up a Gladiator before the 3.0 Hurricane hits the JL and JT lineup. My '24 Cummins puts out 420 horse and 1075 tq. It's also a cast/forged design and weighs 1200 pounds. The 3.0 EcoBoost and 3.0 Hurricane are cranking out gobs of power at RPMs that god hasn't seen, and they have a lot of aluminum involved which yields expansion/contraction differentials between the engine components that I don't find appealing. Do they make power? Yes, but the small displacement means boost must be higher, RPMs must be higher, and the orchestra must have impeccable timing. Reliability and longevity weigh heavily on my mind with these smaller motors that "outperform V8s". The 3.6 Pentastar isn't exactly a simple motor, but it is far less complex (see reliable) than the newer small displacement FI motors. I also must admit that if it would pass emissions, I'd have a 4BT sitting in my Gladiator.

Probably, but mine's no slouch. I lived in Nu'Orlens for a bit and we know what real Louisiana cooking tastes like and it's one of my favorite food. I still go back just about every year to eat my way through the city. Mulate's for red beans and rice and their bread pudding, and The Gumbo Shop for their Jambalaya and of course their Gumbo are the usual first stops for us every time we're in town. "Our" recipe is a slight variation from Paul Prudhomme's (God rest his soul) that he published in his world famous book Louisiana Kitchen (autographed copy on my kitchen shelf. I like to put some gator in mine but my wife is the big gumbo fan. I'm more alf a Jambalaya and red beans and rice kind's guy. Of course you want to make my eyes roll into the back of my head feed me some real Boudin made with pig's blood stuffed in intestines baby... Woo-Hoo!

You don't have to convince me. My other car has a 6.2L V8, lol - and I like that the Pentastar, for all its faults, is relatively easy and affordable to repair.

And I don't trust any turbo motor from Stellantis yet, unless its painted red and takes the green nozzle.
