Not easy at all........
This would be similar to the chip in the key used a decade ago. If the key didn't have the right chip in it, you could turn the ignition switch with "a key" in it all you want, you ain't going anywhere.
You've almost duplicated what my Silverado had.
I remember Ford called it PATS. Passive Antitheft System. Was just a chipped key

I'll let everyone know how this goes when mine arrives. Under 10$. Worth a shot unless I break my RFID!

So the only remaining vector is tow truck or they bring their own ECM/SGW/BCM with fob, install that into my truck.....

Yeah the only remaining vector is tow truck. I'm good with that. Oh...and carjacking. Lol...not for a Gladi tho.
If they do that, let 'em have it. They've earned it LOL

the key to not being car jacked is what the owner of the shop I worked in did - he ran 24/7/365 towing and often got called by the patrol any time of day, or NIGHT. Sometimes to haul away vehicles after a bar fight or shooting.
So when he went out on wrecker runs at night, one of his German Shepherds was in the front seat next to him. You didn't even raise a hand to my boss unless you wanted a free amputation.

Don't even need a permit for them.

Man in 2022 I'll be unlocking my doors with a key. Locking them with the power lock button when I exit...and pressing a key on a start button to start it. When I bought this in 2021 I wanted to add proximity locks. This thread changed my life. Lmao.

Will still have phone lock/unlock as well.

That said I keep nothing in the truck. The loss will be an $800 Sunrider. :( deductible is $250. We will see how it goes.

Kinda related, we use iPhones and hid a couple of their AirTag trackers in the cars.

People Work?
Confirmed with Threedom in case any doubt! :)

Proximity attack = defeated
Keypress code attack = defeated

My plan is to have 2 setups:

Fob 1: Fully operational with battery. Keep in faraday box in house and use when going somewhere this isn't an issue.

Fob 2: Remove key and RFID, install onto Threedom key holder. Remove battery. Set aside. Use this when any concerns such as going out in the city etc.

@Threedom great stuff.
So battery out on the OEM and you have exactly that.

That sets whether or not the menu choice is there for auto lock on 15 mph or whatever it is.
CSM is customer menu.
If the choice is yes, then the menu choice for the auto lock feature is present, if no, the menu choice won't show up in the settings in the radio.

Haha damnit. Thanks. I need to be home when I browse alfa. Haha. I was wondering if I can set some sort of autolock when off.
