Yes it chugs up the hills ( this is just in my community) you can floor it and not much will happen…. I coasted up my driveway and parked and it that’s where will it will stay until Jeep comes and gets it . Could be something simple we shall see.

The only defense from bad gas is to be sure that you only use Top Tier Gas Stations! Google Top Tier to read about it.

I lived in coastal NC for about 8 years. Water in gas is a way of life with cars and boats since bad rain storms and hurricanes are constantly flooding stuff. I kept a good supply of marine grade gas treatments (they are the best and I had a boat so double win) because this was about at least a 2-3 times yearly event for me with my 2004 Rocky Mountain edition Jeep and a constant headache with the boat. As soon as it sputtered I would treat the gas and it’d be fine. Never had an issue with cars or boat.

Maybe the newer cars are more susceptible to damage from this. Don’t know, since I haven’t had a problem since I moved out of there.

Ps. Never heard of a transmission issue making the car “sputter”. New one on me.

This is why we have a Tiger rice cooker. Wash rice, add rice, cold water to the line, push a button and wait. Pretty much perfect every time. Even have an extra on standby in case this one decides it does want to rice anymore.

Could be the transmission learning your driving habits. It is quite new. The other driver threw it a curve ball. Make sure you have a tank of good gas and keep driving. You could do the disconnect battery thing. That is where all solutions begin with these over complicated drivable computers.

People have said this for years but the only actual “learning” the TCM does is the TCM “learns” how much wear there is inside the transmission and makes minor adjustments to shift slip/fill timers to complete the shift in the time the tuning itself is asking for.

It will not learn how the driver drives long term and apply different strategies as a result, however, it does have a very short term feature called an aggression counter that can do something sort of similar. But as soon as the pedal is let up it goes away after a few seconds. My reply was not to insult your suggestion as I think a good battery cable pull can fix a ton of issues! Disconnecting both of the cables at the negative post on the main battery and isolating them for about 10 seconds is all it takes to reset all the modules on these and put them all back in sync. Have seen that fix multiple one off issues like this multiple times.

OP just let the dealer deal with it. I’m sure it’ll be something along the lines of “checked for codes, reset everything, drove normal” and they will give it back to you in a few days. Unless you have a broken ground wire or something throwing it for a loop. It should be riddled with codes if it’s a real issue.

Still no word from dealer on diagnosis 3 rd day
There were no codes flipped when I gave it to them . They wanted to drive it some because it wasn’t doing anything I described. Go figure isn’t that always the way

Not trying to beat a dead horse but that basically convinces me that it was a small amount of water in the gas. It probably worked its way through and that will be the end of this issue. If that's the case I would just stay away from that particular gas station for a bit just to be sure.
