Any regrets? I currently have a hard top but would really like the ease of a soft top. I've never seen one in person so I'm not sure how loud they are on the highway, how easy they are to fold down, etc. I'd likely get rid of my hard top if I got a soft top so I wouldn't have to store it.

I haven't put the factory soft top on my Gladiator yet, so feel to take this all with a grain of salt (though I did have a hard top and aftermarket soft tops for my previous Wrangler).

As far as noise goes, I would expect the soft top to be louder than the hard top, just because the wind can make the soft top fabric move and that will transmit noise. The "premium" (twill) top is going to be quieter than the "standard" (sailcloth) top, but my experience in other Jeeps has been that even the premium top is louder than a hard top (with the obvious caveat that everything is properly installed and there isn't an air leak). The extra noise may or may not bother you.

As far as ease of folding down the top, there are some good youtube videos out there showing how to fold back the factory soft top and remove the rear window, so I'd suggest watching those to get an idea.

Have you removed the hard top on you Gladiator yet?

I swap out the hardtop for the soft top during the warm months. It’s my first Jeep so I’m not an expert, but no regrets AT ALL. I always hated sun roofs. Never used them, but I can tell you that I love the soft top and I use it whenever possible. Easy to use, easy to install. Yes, it is louder but not obnoxious.
My only complaint is that it doesn’t fold down to the bed. I’m not a big fan of the man bun look. I completely forgot about that once I’m driving with the top down on a warm sunny day!

I have both the hardtop and the soft top. Just like I used to with my Wrangler Unlimited I use the soft top for most of the spring summer and fall. And switch to the hardtop for the snowy winter months.

Are use a hoist in my garage to lift the hard top off and store it when it’s not in use. Which makes it very easy for me in my particular scenario. Noise wise the soft top is certainly a little louder but not enough to be a distraction or make it hard to hear or talk to anyone on Bluetooth. And that’s coming from a guy with almost complete hearing loss in my right ear…

I will say that compared to other soft tops I’ve had I absolutely love the gladiators soft top. It folds down very easily if I just want the top open. I can also take out just the back window, or both the side brackets and the window and have a safari top. Which is pretty much what I do all summer with my tube doors on.

I absolutely LOVE having a soft top. It's so convenient in the summer that I can flip it open or closed in 30 seconds and not have to worry. This was with my JLU but the Gladiator that I'm getting delivered is the dual top option and imagine I will use both the same as on my JLU

I second every single part of this. 1st Jeep, immediately bought the premium soft top and drove it 10 hours. Talking on the phone was difficult at 80mph with mud tires. Seriously though, that is my only rub. It isn’t so loud that it is disturbing otherwise. But being able to throw the top back in 15 seconds? Amazing. Man bun hasn’t been a thought since. I got a Jeep to do Jeep stuff. Top back is part of the Jeep stuff for me.

I have to agree in that it definitely makes it easy to open up just for quick trips and running errands with the ease of locking up in an instant when you need to jump down for something. You couldn't have a better solution than a hard top for the winter/soft for summer. Once you pull the hardtop and run around, you have very little ways to secure the top area and are screwed if weather changes. With the soft top you never worry as you can close up and open up in seconds as mentioned. You obviously can't see the top folded up while driving so who cares. Yes, it would be awesome if it dropped all the way back, but it is what it is unless you want to drop $5-$6k on the full folding aftermarket one. I just can't justify that cost for a soft top to solve the "Look" problem.

Always have had a soft top on a Jeep, open air feeling is the best, When I lived in VA. soft top till November, hard top till April, hard top in the snow and cold is great,

Here in FL, I run the soft top all the time, might put the hard top back on if I go North for the winter, around here 80% of the Jeeps, have the hard tops on year round,

JeeperPeeper - lol, me neither until I was searching online and found a pic of one in the sun! Lighting can change it completely too as you can see from the pic in the garage.

Check back soon as it'll have a ton of goodies installed. I can't wait to see it on these Bronze Icon's and 37's... Definitely more pics and full build thread in the works. Thanks for the kind words!

Well if you were closer to me over here in Katy, Tx I would let you get a feel for it. I sold my hard top but I wanted Soft Top just couldn't get one when I bought my truck. Been Soft Top every since then and don't see any way I am ever going back to Hard Top anytime in the near future. I could see if I was doing overlanding, etc and needed to put something up top but for me its mostly trailers, beach and daily driver. Comes with a little more noise than the hard top. Perhaps with sound suppression stuff the hard top could be even quieter. But I bought it to have the top off and with the crazy rain showers popping up at any time around here. I can drop it quick and have it back on just as quick. I just wish I could get the doors off that quick and easy (LOL).

Prior ride was a 2015 JKU and we had both tops. Swapped tops around Halloween and Easter. Top and doors were off every time that weather permitted. Running around naked is the entire reason to buy a Jeep. If you wanted a permanent closed off pickup you would have bought a Tacoma.

Just got the Gladiator. It came with the HT. I 1000% plan on getting the ST. Dual top option cost the same as buying the Mopar ST separate. I figured I have the cold months to see if I can find a deal , but if I can't I will bite the bullet and drop the $2k for the Mopar one.

The one thing with the ST is that the premium twill material is definitely better than the standard plastic type material. I had both with the JKU and it was night and day difference. in noise, durability, and just working with the material. I would not even consider getting the standard plastic coated material.

I started with a hardtop, added the Bestop Sunrider, felt bad my kids couldn't also enjoy the open top so I got the factory softtop.

So now most of the year I have the softtop on, when I go to the snow or rainy season I switch to the hardtop plus Sunrider.

I bought a soft top last spring and still have it on. I am dragging my feet on changing it out for the winter hard top, because I like it so much better. I will probably wait till we start getting snow. I've built a shelf in my garage that I can set the hardtop on upright against the wall and off the floor. The freedom panels go in their bag and inside the top. I had looked for other solutions for easy on/off and storage for the hardtop, but nothing seemed to work very well. That's when I bit the bullet for the soft top. It takes two people to get the hard top off, but the soft top install was a simple one person job.

The premium twill looks as good or better than the black hardtop. The noise is not really an issue for me. The jeep is not going to be quiet on the highway with either top. I do like the black fabric interior of the soft more than the off-white fiberglass interior of the hard top.

No regrets.
