I am the kind of person that doesn't like things hidden. I don't like engine covers ect, they hide issues.
With that said, the high pressure CP4 pump has one hellva fiberglass cover and insulation over it. My first thought is that it is all there for sound reduction. Did a little digging and someone on the interweb mentioned it can also be used to keep the pump warm in cold environments, keeping the fuel from gelling.
To me cold isn't a issue, i am in AZ and it is not much of a concern keeping in the heat. Quite the opposite, I want to keep the heat out of things.
Anyway, i have removed the cover just to mess around and was wondering if anyone else had any insight to share.
Anyone with other diesel vehicles with the CP4? Do those have covers too? or is this just a Jeep thing?
