I have been eyeing the Wilco hitchgate drop for a while now. I like the fact that is light (33 lbs) and still retains a tow hitch rating of 750lb tongue weight and 7500lb capacity. And its cheap. Don't want to spend $2000 on a complete new bumper with tire carrier as my current spare does fit in the stock location.

Its just something I think would look cool to add to my "scrambler" retro look. Especially with the matching Q-tech retro white wagon wheel and Jeep logo on the center cap.

Just wondering about the quality of Wilco products? I have seen some fullsize old K5's that use them and seem to like them according to those forums.

Yes, I know I need to relocate the license plate (which they make a kit along with wiring for a light and would have to get some sort of camera relocation kit to keep that function. I just like this one as it doesn't block my passenger side tail light / turn signal etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Get the wilco drop. It is low profile and sit closer to the jeep. Also retains 7k plus towing with higher tounge wieght. It will look awesome on your build. I plan on getting one very soon.. Wilco is top of the line as far as tire carriers are concern and this model can hold up 200lbs i believe rattle free and a 37?. Longterm reviews for Wilco products have been fair however for less then 500 dollars you will have a great upgrade for the scrambler!!

The wilco solo with high clearance i think is the next most reasable option however that is a full swingout.

When I did my research on this topic, one thing jumped out…any extension added to the receiver hitch reduces the amount of tow rating. The other consideration is if it only weighs 33 lbs and you have a 90 lbs tire and rim 2X higher than stock.
