Isn’t TIP the throttle interrupt that turns the engine off when stopped to save fuel?
On my other Jeeps there has been a button to disable it. On my Chevy there isn’t a button. Overall the argument is in town you get better economy since the engine isn’t running at idle.
I had a 2012 f150 that did this, took me forever to unlearn it after i got rid of the truck. it was nice though. my current cars have a button on the dash.
As mentioned, "Tip Start" is an automatic start feature. You just push the button once (JL has push button start, so I assume JT will also) and the vehicle will automatically start. If it fails to start, it'll stop cranking after a pre-programmed amount of time to protect the starter motor from overheating.
The reason this feature became a thing is because since it's electronic, it's easier for the automaker to integrate remote start systems that are plug-and-play. In fact, on most new vehicles with tip start, you can plug in a remote start module yourself and get the dealer to "turn on" the feature by using their scan tool and you're good to go after replacing the key fob. No wiring involved.
