265/75 17 on my SuperDuty run 75psi. LT load range E tires.
My old standard-duty F250 ran 55.
If I put LT tires on the Gladiator, I'd expect something in the 60psi range.
But for standard car SL-range tires, yeah, you're right.
On a heavy truck, which carries a lot of weight, sure. In a Jeep, without a load, you don’t need high pressures. The stated Max pressure on a sidewall is for that tire’s Max load. Most LT tires have a Max load which is A LOT more than a Jeep will ever need. Having overinflated tires contributes to a harsh ride, and wears out the center of the tire.

I just aired down all 4 wheels to 40 PSI and took it around the block... yeah, needless to say it rides 100% better. I have def been used to driving a stiff suspension DD autocross car that rides like a rail car. Now this truck rides like my dad’s new Tahoe. It was actually such a huge difference I had my wife come out and drive it around the block to see if she noticed a difference. She did (she is the main driver) and was very pleased.

I’ll take it down to 35 then 30 tomorrow when it is light outside and do a chalk test with the tread to see what’s best.

Thanks all for helping fix what could have been a huge safety issue.

Never ran that high on my Chevy tires of similar size.
My F250 never ran that high, either.

I'd love to check the foot print on that thing as I bet it's high in the center and not sitting flat.

That tire would be similar in size to the Overland - wider? but what, 32"?

The SuperDuty is a 2006: if I drop the pressure much below 75psi, it will have a dangerous steering oscillation when I hit a bump/hole with a front tire (a documented issue.) It rides much better with the tires in the 50-60 range, but I'd rather keep it between the white lines.

The tire wear is surprisingly even: I've been through 3 sets of tires, with no indication of over-inflation.

The tires on the Ford are 32", about ÂĽ" taller than the stock Sport S tires.

Stock setting is 37 psi. Most people drop the alert threshold to 30 +/- after going to 35-37” tires. I’m currently using the 25 psi alert threshold, a d run 30 psi.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but this is exactly what I. Trying to find out.

How do you set an alert threshold. Apparently mine is at 40 psi. I went to the tire refill assist but that doesn’t do anything.

No, it's not set to 40. These things have lower tire PSI numbers on the DOOR STICKERS.
My Overland tire inflation was supposed to be 38 - that's the recommended pressure on the DOOR STICKER. No way these could be set to a number higher than on that sticker. Anyone running the correct pressure would be below that threshold.
I set my new tires to 33 based on the tire maker's engineer's recommendation. No alarms go off.
You can't use the settings in the radio to change that. you have to use software (with some hardware - AlfaOBD, JSCAN, etc.) or a tazer (hardware only) to make that change.
Tire refill assist has nothing to do with the low tire alert setting.

I realized that after looking into it. However my warning does say to fill the tires to 40 psi To reset. I don’t know why it would because the door sill says 37 But that’s what it says.

That's weird because I can't think of any stock Rubicon tires that would be inflated to 40. Normally smaller, more narrow tires get higher pressures while wider/fatter tires get lower numbers.

Neither can I. Especially when it surpasses their own recommended pressure.
