Tires for 17" rims.

I would think 285/70/R17 would work fine and look good too.

With the 3.73/1 gears in the Sport I found the drivability impacted with larger tires, 285/70 17. I live in an area with lots of hills and mountains. With the 3.73 gears my Gladiator was constantly shifting out of 8th to lower gears at the slightest of grades and I didn't like the constant shifting. I think I would have been OK with it had I lived in Florida. I swapped out the axles for Rubicon lockers with 4:10 gears and now it drives better with the larger tires. Next time I change tires I will see how 35's work with the 4:10's.

I put 285/75R17's (34's) on my Willys. It has a TeraFlex 1.5 leveling kit on the front. I didn't want anything that would possibly rub. I don't know how much taller you could go on a Sport with stock wheels and not rub a little at full turn, when flexed. They haven't killed my mpg's with the 3.73 gears either.

If you wheel, your front tires will probably rub if flexed while turning with anything taller than 34" tires on stock wheels. I did a little testing today while clearing trails on our hunting property. I didn't rub, but they were close. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic while in a turn.
