I've seen one other post where someone mentioned tow hook rust. My 2021 Gladiator Overland is 13 and half months old to me (date of mfr 8-20). I've got rust forming on the "frame" that surrounds the rear tow hook. Is this common/normal, or would it be covered under some warranty? (I'm in Ontario).

I have the same issue. It started back in Dec/January with only 8k miles. Car is a 2021 picked up in Nov. @JeepCares has been notified. They told me to take to the nearest dealer that has a body shop. Mine is primarily on the drivers side, but you can see the passanger side starting to flake as well.

I called the Service Department at my dealership. They had me bring it over (literally around the corner) so they could take pictures to send to Chrysler. And the Service Manager said they'd know in a week if Chrysler will replace it. I asked about how long to get the parts in once they were ordered, and basically it was "who knows?". I've got just over 19,000 km (12,000 mi) on it. But it seems like they're handling it right. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Same on my 2020. I had removed the bumper and sanded it down. Looks like the factory painted over rust there and sent it out. Every Gladiator in my area has the same rusting issue, I doubt the stealership will do anything as it isn't rusting through.

I just noticed I have the same issue. I'm not happy about this. I have been able to keep this vehicle in tip top shape. I dont expect jeep,to fix it. Anyone come up with a way to fix it ourselves?

Is it rust or surface rust? Just clean it and rattle can it if surface.

If actual rust, do the same thing.

The metal is chilling away. I didn't pay 65k for a new car to deal with rust issues in the first 6 months. I run a service shop and could fix it easily. I don't wana run into issues down the road and Jeep deny the claim or say it's not their issue. I want it documented and fixed by them - so they are on the hook for it.

I can say the same for every vehicle I have owned. Shit happens. It's a tow hook, take it in sd

Welcome to all vehicles ever regardless of price point or manufacturer. Take it in stride and deal with it, especially something this insignificant.

One of the dumbest replies I've ever heard. Especially since I didn't ask for your opinion lol. I was responding to OPs question. It's even dumber telling me anything about the business when I run a dealership lol. Just cause YOU recieved a shitty product or bad service- doesn't mean it should be the standard or that I should be okay with it. Further more it's not "just a tow hook". It's the entire piece that the hook mounts to- behind the bumper.

I'll make sure jeep fixes it on their dime and its documented for the future. Thanks for you concern though ?

Hi everyone,,

As of last Thursday, the situation has been resolved. The dealership replaced the entire piece under warranty. Which includes the trailer hitch. And coated it in "road armour" before they installed the new piece. In an attempt to be clever, I put some chalk marks on the piece before I brought it in for the service, but it turns out I marked the wrong piece. The Service Manager actually went to the back and brought out the old piece when I mentioned I didn't think they put a new piece on. Excellent service and patience shown by him. If you're interested, the dealership is https://www.johnstonchrysler.com/

And this is the part number: 68334750AA
