I’m looking at putting 35’s on a Rubicon version and a 2” Mopar lift. I’m concern is that adding the 35’s will really affect the towing capability as it does in my commander. My Commander has the 4.7 (~280 hp) and 31” tires and I think 3.75 gear ratio. The stock tires are 245s vs 275’s. Towing is horrible with anything over 3000 pounds. Would I be likely to see the same issues or would the 4.10 gears make up for the difference? ANyone with a 4 door wrangler have experience with towing with larger tires? I know it’s not exactly apples to apples, but might give some insight. Thx

I really would like the 2” lift for clearance but don’t want the tires to look too small and dorky.

Short answer is if you change anything with max tow you are going to significantly reduce your tow rating. There is another thread posted here (was just on it. It couldn’t find it again) where a Jeep engineer explains how they got to the max tow and stated if you change anything it’s going away.

I have the 3.6L, 8-speed auto, 2.5" lift, 35" mud tires, and 3.45 gears. I tow just shy of 3,000 lbs. with it and it does really well. 14 MPGs and plenty of power.

The issue is braking... REALLY need trailer brakes.

Oh, and windy days. It hates windy days. The boxy shape and light weight (compared to other mid-size 4x4s) make it sway in the wind. But Gladiator will be longer and heavier, so not as much of a concern.
