Just a friendly reminder your tow and vehicle capacity are much lower now. You took away the main component that makes it a Max Tow so be careful out there. That a big reason I haven't touched any things related to that package.

Agreed. I’d put my towing capacity somewhere between a Rubicon and a Max Tow.

Nice setup! Are these KO2s in your picture? They look wider. I considered that specific tire but ended up swapping my KO2s with a set of Toyo AT3s in P285/70/17. At 47lbs, they are one of the lightest 33" tires I could find.

Yeah, the OEM tires were pretty flimsy with thin sidewalls and lost traction rather easily in the snow. I had a chance to test out both tire sets over the summer. With the OEM Dueler ATs the engine had to work less, with fewer down shifts, and less strain towing up inclines. Fuel consumption towing was about the same at 10.5 mpg over a 200 mile stretch.

The various max temperatures stayed the same with either tire set. This was the highest I've observed at 10,600ft elevation.

Dang I've never seen my oil temperature that high.

I typically see these temps during long climbs as we crest the mountain passes. Got up to these temps completely stock as well as with lift/bigger tires.

I've seen around 235° towing, I start slowing down the speed to run cooler. Particularly due to a trip when I started to smell oil burning. That trip I pulled into a Walmart let it cool off, after walking around for awhile came out checked oil. It was low, added about 2 qt. to top up in summer towing around 3k worth of trailer up and down hills. That was a one time event on using oil. It definitely gave me some concern.

In search of a truck that tries to do it all, I traded in my F150 for a nicely equipped 2022 Gladiator Sport S Max Tow with the 3.6 Pentastar.

I'm pulling an Apex Nano 208BHS which weighs in at 5,000lbs loaded and no doubt I'll miss the power of the 3.5 Ecoboost.

My main objective is to build a well balanced rig that serves as a daily driver, the occasional camping trip, and can hit the trails in Colorado and surrounding areas.

How to tell me you’re not out west.

Yep Alabama 😁
I've definitely spent to much time in hot dry places even many months at Ft Irwin CA. I'd rather be back in Iraq than there. I did live in S.E. GA for a dozen or so years..... when not at Ft. Irwin, Kuwait and Iraq or some other armpit the government could send me.

Replaced the ARE hard topper with a Softopper shedding 130lbs of weight. Running a set of Blizzaks on JKU wheels to enjoy the snow season.
