I really do not know if this is a issue, but I have noticed of late when coming out of 4H to 2H, the transfer case makes this whizzing sound like something is unwinding for about less than 5 second.

I have no issue engaging or disengaging. Nor have I had any issue with driveability or detected driveline binding. All driving has been on either loose dirt/gravel or snow covered roads. Does not happen all the time.

I will admit I am weak on the technical of transfer cases. I already have plans before this to change my transfer case fluid this weekend, but was wondering if anybody else had knowledgeable input on what I am seeing?

Thanks for any help

Maybe not the same sound, but mine make an unwinding sound every time I come to a stop in regular driving.
Sounds almost like a turbo winding down.

I bet it is the same thing I am hearing also. I am not really stressing over it too much, just I never recalled this with my 2020 Rubicon and I drove it the same way.

The transfer case is chain driven, so there isn't any gear or pinion that is loose and can spin freely. Makes me wonder if it may be the front driveshaft. With a FAD, would the front driveshaft be able to spin freely when in 2H?

My understanding is in 2H, the front driveshaft should not spin because of the FAD system.

I am starting to lean towards the FAD. What @KevinC mentioned about the FAD jogged my memory of a TSB out for basically the reverse of the issue I have in 4H, the TSB mentions the same issue in 2H about the FAD and a whirring sound that goes away when put in 4H.

Looks like possible a issue with the axle intermediate half and output shaft of the FAD system.

Now I have to decide if I am going to just fix this myself or play the games with the dealership on this and trying to get them on the same page and do warranty work?
