I changed out the pan because am going to install a full belly skid plate and wanted to change out the fluid once before I do that. I have done this on other vehicles I owned and found lots of metal fines and other material in the pan. I wanted anything from manufacturing and break in removed. Since I was changing the fluid and filter. The PPE pan makes doing this in the future easier. And yes, I used Mopar 8/9 speed transmission fluid for the change.

So what fluid do you plan to use? Mopar or something like Amsoil? @WILDHOBO
I don’t mess with fluid experiments. It’ll get exactly what is called for. I’m not being vague. I haven’t looked it up yet. But I’ll do my research. My engine for example has never seen anything but Penz platinum 0w20. I refuse to even mix brands. I’m ocd.

Great info, thanks. I will be changing my fluid soon. I already have a full skid installed so that will be coming back off. Well part of it anyway.

I also changed the trans pan on my JTRD to the PPE. the first thing I noticed was the difference in filters. The OEM filter has a rear pickup vs the standard bottom pickup at the front of the pan on the filter PPE uses. I wondered if this would lead to problems on steep uphills.
