Hi all,
My stock Falken M/T tires have 46K miles on them (5/32" tread and some hairline cracks). So, I should be replacing them soon. I searched all the forums and there is plenty of discussion on "true" 35's and 37s. I would like to be less aggressive and maintain an "almost stock" truck, and keep the factory wheels (my spare $$ will be depleted on shocks
). So I am thinking of ditching the M/T's and going with 285/75/R17 (just 1.2" inch taller). Also I am oscillating between BFG KO2's vs Falken R/T's at that config (285/75/17).
My questions:
1) Anyone with experience with that size tires ? I assume they will not rub or anything but just checking.
2) Opinions between BFG and Falken
3) Fuel economy is a consideration (I live in CA) but I figure an extra 5-6 lbs/tire won't matter much. Am I wrong ?
The truck is a daily driver but out of the 46K miles 8K have been off-road - very little crawling, mostly moderate speed (up to 60mph) gravel, desert, forest roads. I intend to use it similarly as I did so far and I like the stock handling the suspension..
Thanks..
