Trying to track down a popping/clicking issue. With video

Been having this issue for awhile but today it ended up getting much worse. I get a popping/clicking noise on deceleration/braking from the front and now rear. Just finished a 1700 mile trip towing a heavy enclosed trailer. The clicking in the back is much faster with some vibration. I’m gonna get under it when I finish my work rotation and start checking torques. Looking for suggestions on where to start first. Included two quick videos where you can hear the noise. Thanks.

How many miles do you have on it? Shuddering when braking is often a rotor issue, uneven wear, rotor warp or deposit build up on the pads and/or rotor. First check the obvious: wheel rim torque, then I’d pull the wheels and inspect the pads and rotors. Also check the caliper and caliper adapter torque. It’s confusing which torque value is which. Any trailering will alter the brake maintenance schedule, so mileage may not be a good guide. I haven’t put brakes on mine, so off the top of my head I have no idea what the typica expected pad/rotor lifespan is for this model.

There are other possible sources of vibrations but the braking part is a clue. U-joints and CV-joints going bad will cause driveline vibration which may manifest under different conditions. You’ll know soon enough if that’s failing. Same goes for the center support bearing. These are all common failures especially if you off road it in mud. Exhaust components can rattle if you’re missing a hanger. Again, the under braking is a clue that points away from this.

Lastly, the e-brake cable on these trucks rattle, not necessarily like the sound in your videos but frequently over bumps. You fix that by rapping it in foam where it goes through its support hanger.

really appreciate the advice. I’m on work rotation for the next two weeks so I’m trying to get a game plane ready for then I’m back. Why I wasn’t thinking breaks because just during decel like letting it coast to a stop will cause the vibration as well. I just hit 40k and the truck has been pretty trouble free so I guess it’s due for some issues.
