And I get what you say about the Health Insurance, my wife had a service performed by a doctor that was literally just mis-coded and of course, the insurance company denied the claim. The doctor realized his error, changed the code and the Insurance Company still denied because know they thought he was lying to trick them into coverage. Took about a year to resolve.
I had the same. 2 years wroth of services. The office never informed me until later when I got a 3K bill. They said the same about coding, tried to change coding but insurance said no. That was with blue cross which is usually really good. Now when we tried covering it under the VA, they say they wont even cover it at all, no exceptions. Pretty sad what insurance companies have come to considering they claim to promote 'health and wellness'.

Anyway off topic. that 3mph situation is exactly what will prevent me from doing any sort of driving recorded based insurance until some day the government decides to force it as a mandate. Which is coming - they are already doing that with all government vehicles. The claim is to better comprehend a need for 'service' needs and vehicle mileage and use, but they have already proven issues as they are 'always on' so we have a dozen dead batteries. Of course fleet won't pay for that. And they have been beeping at people as soon as they go too fast. Zero doubt they are recording and keeping track of things in secret that is just not being said.

Anything and everything that can be to your benefit, can very easily, and likely, be used against you. I try and live by that and it has pretty much always held true, as negative as it sounds.

another followup:

So I saw a few more trips recorded in my app than I expected, only to learn that I got a bad score for a trip where I was the passenger in my friends' truck. We were talking about HP in his truck, and well, ... ( fill in the blanks ).

So, for the app to record, location services must be set to "Always On". Even if the app is closed, it still uses the location services in the background. You can either adjust this setting ( to record or not record ) by setting the apps' location services to "Only While Using the App", or navigate into the app and select your actions ( passenger, cycling, ... ) and it's a PITA. [ edited my previous post, where I was incorrect ]

In summary, the app isn't very intuitive, unless you're the only driver in your house, don't go anywhere with friends as passengers, don't exercise, don't ride 4-wheelers, don't ride public transportation or ubers, and don't ride with any friends. It's probably pretty good for a widower that just goes to feed his cattle in a beater farm truck.
