I recently bought a new Gladiator and it has the 7" screen with SXM and also the guardian system. The dealer nor SXM can get the Assist or SOS working! Each one blames the other so I get nowhere. My question is this... when you push the assist or SOS button on either the roof or screen should you get some sort of message even if the system is not activated? When I push the buttons on the roof absolutely nothing happens and when I push either on the screen it just flashes red for a second and that's it. I don't know who to believe as to why it doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

No, it just gives a failure message. It is not communicating with the app at all.

When the dealer sold you the vehicle, they should have gotten your email and created an account for you. The VIN of the vehicle is linked to your account and to the Guardian system. The Guardian Service communicates with the vehicle using the cellular modem in the head unit. When you login to your account on the Jeep website, there should be information and links there for the Guardian subscription. If this is not setup correctly, none of the features will work. The basic test is if you can use the app to remote start or unlock the doors. If not, the link between the vehicle and the Guardian Service is broken. I would suggest contacting @JeepCares and asking for help.

I have asked for help... They setup the account and I can see it on mopar.com and it says active! They have reset it four times now and still nothing. I can see the service history that the dealer has entered, but no vehicle info that is transmitted from the vehicle. Everytime I go to the dealer they allegedly reset everything and have SXM resend and then I have to wait 24-48 hours to verify that it doesn't work! I'm growing tired of taking the vehicle back and forth to the dealer.

Has @JeepCares been asked to get involved? From here, you have to send private message and request their assistance.

The Guardian support people need to get AT&T involved to confirm there is communication with the vehicle. AT&T provides the cellular link to the head unit. SiriusXM/Guardian manages the service, which includes the servers handling the connections between the vehicle, website, and phone app.

Sometimes they are a little slow. I think they work something like 9:00 to 4:00 EST. Maybe they have had staff cuts, I have not seen any posts from them for a while.

If you don't have the both services I don't think it will work. There has to be an acct. For Uconnect and Travelink etc.. AT&T wifi I don't think has anything to do with the SOS button as at times I have not paid my AT&T wifi service on time and the SOS button will still work .
I dont know just rambling. I would guess if all services are up and going then . Disconnect the battery wait a couple minutes . Then see if it all links together. I remember (and still have issues at times) that when the AT&T wifi problem was happening they suggested to disconnect the battery for a minute then reconnect just make sure vehicle is turned off and not running. . Also the vehicle while in the run position with the radio on if you push both side dials in at the very same moment and hold for 17-20 seconds and then let off it will reset the head unit ? I used to do this all the time to get the wifi to come back on. It will go off and after a few seconds boot back up . Keep the ignition on. Yes the radio can be reset while the engine is running.

I also belive thinking about it more . The SOS works through the Satellite radio . When you hit the SOS it is Gaurdian that always comes on the phone and I mean I could be in the deadest dead zone of all dead zones and it will work. They literally will tell you they have nothing to do with AT&T and will give you a phone number. +18778558400

I have both services, but no connection with the assist or SOS button. When I go to the dealer and walk out to one of the new Jeeps that have not been sold, I can push the SOS button and it pops up and says "dialing"! Mine does absolutely nothing when either button is pushed at the top of the windshield or on the head unit.... So I'm caught between the dealer blaming SXM and SXM saying there is a hardware problem.

I know I'm growing really tired of the blame game. When I pay for something I like for it to work regardless of whether or not I'll ever use it.

That must be new then, because in the 2021s, you must have the 8" display system for the guardian stuff to work. Found out the hard way as the info on Jeep's site seemed to indicate the 7" would do it, but no banana.

I’m not sure how that works either but mine has been acting weird lately. From the app I can remote start and unlock doors but info like tp, fuel, mileage quit working 2 weeks ago. Last Saturday it updated when I got my health report but nothing since.

Now you have me wondering... The window sticker doesn't mention it, but it has the connected features as there is a wi-fi connection showing.

I found this on the web....

How do I know if my car has Sirius Guardian?

If your vehicle has the ASSIST button on the rear-view mirror, this means you have a connected services-capable vehicle. If you would like to purchase a subscription press the ASSIST button and choose either SXM Guardian or Uconnect Care from your touchscreen.
