Uniden R7 mounting

So I’m going to try something.. I already have the 67 Designs rail system with dual phone mounts and an extra center ball mount. I’ve ordered their shortest arm (nano) and another magnetic mount. The plan is to mount the R7 on the center rain ball mount and then hardwire it to one of the low amp auxiliary switches so I can turn the R7 on/off as needed. I know it not likely the ideal spot based on the height of the R7 in the windshield, but I didn’t want it hanging down from the mirror and I despise suction cups on the windshield. Any thoughts?

I’ve been thinking about this too I don’t even have my Jeep yet. I have the escort redline 360 with the new camera. I have a blend mount in my car and it’s hardwired in I love it. That won’t work for you though…man honestly if you don’t want a mirror mount and hate suction cups (I do too) I don’t know what other options you have, I think you have come up with about the best solution and you already know it’s not ideal but I’m not sure there is much else.

I have a escort maxcam 360… I just 3m taped mine to the dash. On the rear, I had to make a 1/4” spacer to get it level. … best pic I have at the moment.

All finished and came out well. The Uniden R7 is mounted to the 67 Designs rail with a nano sized arm and the G3 mag mount. I removed the screen and drilled a hole near the mount and ran the power wire to the Auxiliary #4 switch under the passenger side. The excess wire was zip tied up and tucked away behind the glove box. This way I can turn it on and off as needed. This was the cleanest way that I could find to mount it. I also researched if there would be an issue with the magnetic mount interfering with the detector and found there should be none at all.
