I'm planning to do a DIY for Trail Rails and am debating between Unistrut and L-Track.

I realize the L-Track is a bit more expensive, BUT it seems it may accept a bed rail type of tonneau cover better than the unistrut because it is lower profile.

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Does the Unistrut have more accessory options than L-Track?

I've never worked with either and this is my first truck so I'm looking for any and all guidance here.

Thanks!

I used L-track on mine. I liked the lower profile. I just intended to use it to secure loads from shifting.

Any chance you also have a tonneau cover that uses rails on top of the bed?

You can get half-height (13/16”) Unistrut locally, and it’s a lot less expensive, and accessories are readily available.

I don't. But it does leave a lot of room. That is why I went with the L-track, the low profile. I haul motorcycles frequently and the higher profile systems really seem to add torque to the small bolts that hold the track. L-track does not do this. The rings lock in place really nice too.

I'm thinking of putting L track rails, 2 along the bottom of the bed within the ribs. Should make tying down crap easier in the bed, rather than a spider web between the trail rails. Now, if I could just find some...

Exactly why I installed my L-track system, for motorcycles and very large toolboxes.

I first saw it at a motorcycle show 12 years ago. After a demo I was sold and bought 3 sets. I have used it to haul my motocross and sportbikes to the track. It's nice not to deal with straps or a wheel chock.

Did you put a bar under the bed to support the l track to "sandwich" the bed?

I was thinking about giving the motocinch a go, just hoping its adjustable low enough for my 500EXC with 17" sumo tires.

On the bottom side of the bed I used large fender washers.

The motocinch is height adjustable so it should work fine with your bike.
I cinch down my YZ250 and my son's TTR125 side by side no problem.
