Well I had to trade my 2020 Gladiator 2 years ago when we had our son for a Pilot for my wife to drive him in as we only had an Accord.

Today I glad to say I picked up my new Gladiator!

2023 Gladiator, they installed 2” lift and Fuel rims 20s with 35 Nitto Ridge Grapplers 35/12.5/R20s). With them doing the install at purchase the lift is covered under the extended warranty. All that’s left is the front bumper and winch which I feel I can do cheaper than what they were charging.

Excited to be back! Ready to get my little one on some camping and trail trips soon!

I’m looking forward to doing it this year! Is a rear locker and a winch and lift enough to make the trails?
Absolutely, most trails have bypasses for the hardest parts. I have been a few times in the Gladiator and it was still stock height with 35’s. The “whoops” on the trail is what was getting me, long wheelbase would cause me to drag on some. Now I am lifted on 37’s, so that shouldn’t be a problem anymore. I have not needed lockers there yet, but I also was never there after a bad rain in the JT. I have my winch and have not used it for myself yet, but it has worked well to assist others.

I have been there in my previous Wrangler many more times, I was able to wheel everywhere, even in the rain, without lockers. This was on AT tires as well.

There is a group on FB called Fully Mission Capable, they sometimes have group rides in the Uwharrie area, if you can get on one that rides in the Grand Overland District (just up the road from El Dorado outpost) they have some good trails.

Good tires help a lot, and open diffs are effective, especially with the factory brake lock diffs. A winch is nice but adds weight to the front, causing sag and more extreme bouncing on dips, potholes, etc. I have had them on various 4x4s but prudent driving makes them an insurance policy rather than a necessity.

That’s right!! Excited and hope he gets into riding and trails!
Wait till he thinks he can reach the pedals.
I used to live in Charlotte for a few years. Your neighborhood looks like something off of Woodlawn back in the day. Enjoy your new Gladiator!!!
