The factory cloth upholstery
in my 1998 Wrangler Sahara
is 25 years old
and still in good condition.
In spite of dogs riding in it
for the nine years that I have had it
there are no rips or tears from toenails.
The dog hair does not cling to the cloth
and is easy to swipe away
along with sand or paw prints.
The only damage
is a seam beginning to separate
where my fat butt slides in.
The black cloth upholstery
and black carpet in my 2021 JTR
is a dog hair and dirt magnet.
The hairs weave themselves
into the "chenille" covered seats.
Jeeps are supposed to be
for the outdoor life, offroad,
where there is dirt.
Not for posing at Starbucks.
What were they thinking?
Somehow, this does not seem like progress.
I bought inexpensive seat covers
that can be easily removed for cleaning
and to ward against toenails.
