I thought I'd hook up my Autel MS906BT to my new Jeep today to see what it could do. Apparently not much without a special cable and an internet connection to authorize access through autoauth.com. I don't mind using a special cable but a diagnostic tool that requires internet access to work is kind of useless for me in most places I will want to use it. The problem is apparently the secure gateway. It looks like you take off the same two secure gateway connections the Tazer Mini uses and the Autel hooks up through them instead of using the OBD port. I am wondering if having a Tazer Mini hooked up would allow the tool to work through the OBD port and without any additional authorization. Anyone know?
Or is there another way to use the features of the tool (including live data, calibration/reset procedures, simulation of button presses, etc.) without needing an internet connection for authorization?
