When you purchase China stuff you cause the price of US made products to increase indirectly. You also hurt US businesses competing with them. If price is the only thing that matters to you, then fine. Hope the product never lets you down. But when I am overlanding 50 or more miles off the nearest paved road by myself, the last thing I want to worry about is the China junk on my front bumper. I have owned Warn winches all my long life and even though they are now built with some parts outsourced, I have never once had one let me down when I needed it. Just remember that everything you do and everything you buy comes with risks that you accept by doing so. Good luck to you.
Not many things are fully American manufactured with 100% American made parts. It's more assembled here with global parts anymore, I am all for support local businesses and buying American made. The problem is have is companies advertising the American built slogan and just dishing up pre cooked slop. Danner boots only has like 2 boots fully manufactured here anymore the rest China or other countries and same with Redwing boots.

Yep. I just bought an Ariens snowblower that has a made in USA sticker on it. I've read that the motor is made in China and I would imagine alot of the other hardware is made there too.

Military contracts used to be 55% of good must be produced with US components and the just raised it to 75%. The EPA regulations on manufacturing will stop a lot of US manufacturing on a lot of parts. Untill they actually cut regulations the cost will be too high and companies will continue to out source parts.

My brother works in it security reviews. US gov had issues buying approved cameras. Parts were made in China. Those cameras sent feed back to China servers.

For military it should be 100% usa made as cost is not the 1,2 or 3rd priority

Agree but the measures to produce the electronic components just cost too much because of EPA regulations. Only big companies like Intel or micron can do it. American steel producers are going away as well.

Install went very easy, Winch instructions were carbon copy of Badlands. Ended up zip tying fog lights until the new ones arrive.

I definitely love the Orange look.

1 negative for the vevor I failed to mention. The control unit is always "active" if it has a hot power lead.
Also the wireless is functional without the wired unit installed. Past winch i had required the wired control to be attached , otherwise works. Tested pulling myself a few times. Works well for what it is.

So for those on the fence on power interrupt or not. For this I would recommend an under hood solenoid or switch.

For chips it has nothing to do with the EPA. Making chips is relatively clean. It just costs too much for smaller companies to even think about doing it. The tools to manufacture chips cost millions each, and you need a lot of them to produce a wafer. Some of the tools I work with are $150 million each, and those tools are still 5 years behind what Taiwan is using. When I was at Micron, we had 400+ tools just in our R&D fab, and the EUV tool we brought in was $300 million.

It makes more sense to just design your own chips and have the big guys like TSMC make them for you. That's how Nvidia became the world's most valuable company.

Not all the tooling but some of the process need are not good. I have done work on the Intel building and know a lot of people working for or on Intel buildings. The gases used and containment needed is a lot. I almost took a job there replacing abatement pumps for the clean rooms. Then you get into the water usage and water run off. Intel literally has its own water treatment plan. I would imagine the Micron city being built in Idaho now will have stuff like that. It's beyond just making the chips and since they have money EPA fucks with them.

Micron already has all that at the Idaho site, the new project is just another clean room, and a relatively small one compared to the New York project. Containment, treating, cleaning and recycling all the chemicals and water is a lot, but all of that literally costs less than a single cutting edge tool. It's a drop in the bucket for operating costs.

Besides, you really can't be putting that stuff back into the water supply. We can still swim in the river and eat the fish we catch here in downtown Boise. Giving that up so corporations can make more money seems backwards to me.

The treatment plant is for the building run off and toilet water. Western Oregon has clean water and a lot of it. The extra steps and equipment for chemical control cost a lot more than you think. Yes not compared to 1 machine but still not cheap and the up keep is still there. Keeps a lot of people from manufacturering here in the US.
