Lots of discussion and options with ARB Compressor mounts--not a lot for VIAIR.

I have a Viair 450P-RV I picked up. While its not crazy fast, its known to be highly reliable and a workhorse. I like it because it has 100% duty cycle and they have some RV winterization kits. I just don't know where to install it for OBA

Lets not turn this into a ARB vs VIAR thread--instead, looking for successful mounting locations.

I messaged 813 Fabrication (@813 Fabrication & Design ) last night on Instagram and while he didn't make any promises, he said he's looking into a VIAIR mount.

1. Has anyone installed one under the seat? If so, what did you use for heat shielding?
2. Same as above, but under the rear seat ? It fits, just need to get a mount and shielding
3. Bed mount options. Considered getting a Pelican case and installing it via Molle panel.
4. Under hood and under bed? I don't like these options for water crossing, etc.

Hey! I have a 450H on order and should have it in a few days. I plan to first work on a bracket to mount it inside the Large bed enclosure we offer. Once I work that out I will be looking at other mounts for around the truck!

Awesome! If I were to 'have it my way', I'd love an under the back seat mount. I feel like that is the safest bet--although not best for those using air lockers as it will be loud. Looks like you need a bed mount, too! :)

Since there are variations for what is under the seat depending on what model JT you have, I will most focus first on updating my Behind the Seat mount to also mount the ViAir. I will then see what I can come up with for under the seat.

Maximus-3 has a cradle that mounts to the frame under the Jeep. It Is meant to hold one of the Viair onboard air kits that includes the compressor and up to a 2.5 gallon tank. May be a little over kill if you only have the compressor but otherwise seems to be a solid option.

If you can sort a double 485C mount for the passenger side I'd be the first in line. Honestly I'd probably settle for a double 450C if size is an issue.

I’d be interested to see what you come up with. I have the 440 and I have time. As my maiden voyage this past weekend revealed, I have a bottoming out issue on-road. She won’t be taken off-road till she sees some elevation. …and that ultra-low and exposed oil pan….daaaammmmnnnn. How this thing got trail rated with the oil burner I’ll never know.

I can confirm that it is pretty easy to make the ViAir compressor work with a few of our mounts. I can modify one of the enclosures or Under Hood Mounts to work with the existing mounts I have in stock. I will be testing the hole pattern for our Under Seat Bin tomorrow. For future production runs I will make them compatible with as many of the ViAir compressors as possible. Now that I have the ViAir 450H I will be working on several mounts for around the Gladiator and JL.

Behind the seat works for me, too—just somewhere inside the can to protect from elements.

I will know a little better tomorrow on in-cab locations. I will be making a totally new mount for behind the seat, 99% it won't be a problem. I am almost certain I can make it work inside our Under Seat Storage Bin. I don't have the open plastic bin that comes with lower trim levels to test with. I have the Mopar lock box that came with my truck.

When you say ‘behind the seat’ are you referring to under the seat or actually behind it on the floor of the backseat footwell ?

Behind the seat in the cubby, same location as our ARB mount.

No answers for you but thanks for reminding us of other long standing possible solutions for on board air. They have been around a long time. https://www.viaircorp.com/oba
