Lets be clear here. Anybody can sell anything for any price. Now is it allowed by the MFG, NO. Will they honor the warranty, Probably not. Are they making any money on the sale, NO. Everyday somebody pops up on the internet selling something for the wrong price and everyday the MFG's try and get it fixed or removed. What I will tell you is most people dont just buy one ring and pinion and you need two and you also need Master overhaul kits and if you look at our packages I think you will find some nice savings :)

Walmart online is just a marketplace, same as Amazon. It's not Walmart selling them, but another retailer on Walmart's platform.

Maybe @Northridge4x4 can tell us why Walmart can sell these for $160 less than they can?

I would expect them and all the other normal vendors for DANA products would be locked into MAP type pricing but Walmart is exempt?

Just seems like some f*ckery going on with Walmart and these units.

As @STACHES said above, that won't be WalMart itself, that'll more than likely be a company selling through WalMart's site.

We'd guess it'll be bait and switch. They say it's Dana Spicer, but you'll probably get some cheap Chinese gears.

I've bought several things online though Walmart, the tires on my JT and my washing machine are a few. Both were spot on, but it was a timed deal on the tires I had doubts on receiving them. All was good. The washer was during the plandemic and the FedEx driver was surprised on delivery time even same week as ordered. Note not a "full sized" large model.
Now several things I've seen have been to good to be true and many over priced due to hidden shipping costs.
FYI; I'd possibly pass on gears from a reseller on many online sites.

The air bag kit for the JT is 100 bucks on Amazon, about 150 on Northridge. 50 bucks difference for the exact same thing from the same company in the same box.

@CrazyCooter
When doing a rear gear swap do you use the factory style outer pinion bearing or go with the traditional tapered roller bearing style?

I have always gone back with the OE double roller so far.

I have read people talking about the possibility of swapping in a tapered bearing, but nobody can seem to produce a part number? Must be dreaming?

I just figured I’d upgrade while I’m doing my install and was curious if you had gone this route.

While this is marketed and perceived as an upgrade, I have only seen one failure that I would consider low mileage......Even then, the owner had bashed the pinion flange on a rock and wiped out his driveline. What was the actual cause of the failure?

I guess I just grew up on tapered rollers and have more faith in them. I’ll let you know which way I go

Looking at the failures posted online combined with what I have seen in the shop.....the biggest issue is with bearing bores not being machined round.

I'll see if I still have the bearing race from the JT gear job I did 2 weeks ago to post up a pic of......with just 5k miles on it, you can see the rollers aren't hitting evenly.

I'd like to see just for reference. I trust your work and thoughts on it, but I'd be interested in seeing that if it's not an out of your way thing.
When you put any preload on a bearing, it had better be round.

It's a regular post in the gear installer groups.......I look at all the bearing races I remove now just for reference.

If I find one real bad, I'm going to show the client and note it on the repair order in case that particular axle becomes problematic and I don't need to be married to it.
