The axles under the Rubicon's and Mohave's are a tad bit wider than the rest unless you have the heavy duty tow package. This may be what he was saying...
Take me to school on this...

I have a JTRD, I always thought that I had the wider axles, but I did opt-in for the factory tow package, so does that mean that I don't ? What are the differences between the axles ? Thanks

You do have the wide axles.

Wide axles are on the Rubi, Mojave, High Altitude, and Max Tow.

What is he talking about then, when he said:
unless you have the heavy duty tow package ? He makes it sound like if you have the tow package, you don't have wide axles?...

It's a little confusing what Dougstdig said if taken out of context. He was talking to the OP who doesn't have a Rubi or Mojave.

I added text in bold, maybe it's easier to understand now.

Actually, I think the diesel models also include the wider axles as the torq of the engine would need the larger stronger components…. The rear ring gear should be 220mm and front 210mm. I think the front narrower axles have a 185mm in the front and a 210mm in the rear.

Edit: Further beefing up of the diesel models included steel/cast steering knuckles. I think these were made standard on other models of the JT at a later date.
