I was in Maine last week and went to see a friend's property they just purchased. I had to drive a mile down a seasonal road, that becomes snowmobile trail during the Winter. You should have seen the looks I got from some of the guys on sleds as I was driving down the trail. Never got stuck.

Nothing is a snowmobile, except for a snowmobile.

A few years ago one of the car mags took a top tier factory World Rally car loaded up spiked winter tires and raced it against an off the shelf snowmobile.

The snowmobile DESTROYED the car.
We're talking about 0-60 in the 3 second range. Faster than a WRC car can do on a dry track.

We spend the winters up in central / northern NH. Its always amusing to watch people in trucks or jeeps try to keep up with my wife's Volvo wagon. In the winter her car is on Michelin Arctic Alpen snow tires.

Nothing works better in the snow than snow tires. That includes MT and AT truck tires. Not even close.

A set of studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3s on a jeep will make it just about as close to a snowmobile as is possible.
