First post here, and new owner of a 21 JTR. Long time Jeeper, and traded in my JKUR for the Gladiator. My JKUR had a Gobi rack, and it was my platform for my Tepui RTT. Now, I’m looking at options. The Westin seems to be a good option based on the midsize height. Anyone here have one? I can’t seem to find any reviews or posts on it. I’m also curious about the tent mounting. The marketing pics have a RTT mounted flat on the rack. I don’t know the width of those bars, but I think they will be too wide for the Tepui mounting brackets. Plus, if they were to mount, I’d have to twist the tent to open up off the back. Maybe I am missing something, and I’m curious what others are doing with that rack and mounting a RTT. I’d prefer to avoid buying Yakima cross bars.
Also looking at an HD ARE shell, but besides being $$$, I want to get away from lifting the tent up on a high rack (like on my 3” lifted JKUR) as well as the increased drag up there. Plan is to trek the 14+ hours to Ouray this summer (and next..) and camp this time. Folding up the tent and hitting the trails with the tent mounted on the JTR is my goal, I just am trying to figure if the Westin is the rack I need. I like the midsize rack with the tent flush with the roof line.
21 JTR - Toyo 35’s 1.5 Teraflex front 3/4” Daystar spacers rear. Warn xd9000i with Rock Hard mount are my only mods so far…after the first two weeks
. It was stock with 1900 miles when purchased outside of a hard tonneau and front tinted windows. Love this and while my JKUR in Tank was fully built, I don’t miss it. Next mod after the tent situation is most likely a Clayton 2.5 lift while sticking with 35’s.
