Can I get a picture of the front hitch when done? Been thinking biut adding one, but not sure how well it will fit with the bumper I have.

The odd thing is that I had the same bumper and same receiver on my 2020 and it cleared fine.
On this one I had to use spacers to move the bumper forward a bit -
So, there has to be a slight difference in the truck somehow, somewhere. Same bumper, same receiver, same bolts, same location - but it would not clear without bumper spacers on this 2022.

And as for what I did to it -
I put the ends back together and put them on the bumper.............

Skid plate not on yet and the front end settled 5/8" from the weight of the bumper, winch and winch plate.

Installed and wired up my DD SSC1 rear lights. Should work pretty well as auxiliary backup lights.

I also wired in the red back light with the tail lights

Nice! Did you go with sport or pro? when you say you wired up the red light was that extra or did the SSC1 come with red and white bulbs?

I ended up going with the sport, I think they are bright enough for this application. I'm heading to UT in a couple weeks so I'll find out how well they work for me. It will be easy enough to upgrade them to the pros at least if I feel the need.

They have options for blue, red, amber and white backlights:
https://www.diodedynamics.com/stage-series-c1-white-sport-flush-mount-led-pod-pair.html

I'll also be able to switch on the back light for general lighting when I'm doing astrophotography so it won't ruin my night vision or my pictures.

Since my previous post I also added another pair for general lighting. These are the same spec as the flush mounted ones, they just mount normally. I'll just be wiring the red back light on these into the switch though, not the running lights.

Thanks, looks great, and appreciate the response. I have another question as I'm 100% an aux lighting noob. Your second pic shows them throwing a white light in reverse, and the 3rd pic a red light. Does each pod throw 2 different colors, as in, white when you're in reverse and then an override switch in the cab to throw red? Looks like I have to pick one color from DD, so I'm trying to figure out how you have the pods throwing two different colors. I'm sure it's an obvious answer.

I just wanted to add that if anyone uses a front receiver with the steel bumper - the steel bumper sticks out far enough and the receiver is tucked under far enough that the ball mounts I had wouldn't stick out far enough to get my trailer on the ball without contacting the bumper at some point.
So I went out and bought a ball mount that has two holes, it's a dual-length ball mount.
When it's in the back I have it slid in to the shortest hole so the ball isn't sticking WAY out there giving the trailer even more leverage, and when I get home and switch things around to park the trailer, I pull the ball mount from the back, put it in the front and pin it so that it's sticking out and easily clearing the bumper.
So I can use the same ball mount for either end of the truck.
Those with larger spare tires may wish to measure first- when this one is slid in to the short or normal tow position it clears my spare tire but not by several inches. If you have a 37 tucked up in there, be aware you may need to go to a plan B. Or let all the air out of the spare and push the ball mount in although that may not be a great plan.

This is really slick!! Do you think you can do a cutout in the front skid plate and put it back on?

Thanks, looks great, and appreciate the response. I have another question as I'm 100% an aux lighting noob. Your second pic shows them throwing a white light in reverse, and the 3rd pic a red light. No worries, I see what you mean.

There are 2 lights in one essentially; the white light is the main higher powered light (this is either the sport or pro version).

Once you decide on the sport or pro, then you decide what color back light you want (white, amber, red or blue). Those are a low power secondary led.

The wiring is pretty straightforward. Each light has a ground and one 12v input for the main light and a second 12v input for the back light.

I just connected the back light input to the tail light and the main light I connected to the reverse light and a switch so I can turn it on whenever I want.

The light prioritizes the main light, so if the backight is on and you turn on the main light, the back light switches off.

Hope this makes sense!

Yeah, I have just left it off so far due to the weight - the front has already dropped 3/4" just with winch and bumper without the skid plate mounted.

I did cut the slot a tad too far down - it's hard to project the size and shape needed back to a sloped surface, but it's not off by much. I could put a small edging on the bottom of the slot to sort of fill if it bothers me.
These skid plates are tough steel.

Replaced the main and aux battery…

Same here today but with factory under warranty still. If I was out of warranty, I would have gone with the optima as well. The dealer went through the fender liner for the aux which I thought was strange considering how easy the fuse box removal is.

Are those the MOPAR mounts?
They're actually the Lasfit mounts. Everything is very well made, we will see how it stands through a salty NY winter.
