That’s pretty great.
Son of a $&@$$))()!!! So last night around 11pm, I was watching a movie, and all of a sudden, I remembered. Dammit! There is a stupid foam price that rests passively underneath the driver side of the upper intake, sitting on the cable rail below. I left the stupid thing on the welding table and didn’t put it in before putting everything back together. I did some searching last night, and found a couple of JL forum threads about it. It seems like it’s for noise reduction, and is not required. I’ll happily (lies) take it apart again to put it back if it’s important. But if not, it’s a huge PITA to get all that stuff off. Probably 2 hours of work minimum. Does anyone have experience with that stupid thing, or have an experienced opinion on its importance or lack of?Replaced spark plugs and installed high performance coil packs. It was a miserable job, and there’s more blood in my engine bay, but it’s done. No codes. It runs great. I can definitely feel a noticeable power increase. There was a lot of swearing. And getting the plugs out is rough. I had a magnetic plug socket on hand with a permanent hinged extension, but the magnet ring sticks in the tubes. So I went back to the old craftsman, and duct taped it to a 3/8 swivel, then duct taped the swivel to an outlet extension. It was mostly a nightmare.

Yeah. Previous to this, I would have said my Volvo c70 with the T5 was my worst plug job ever, 20+ years ago. This one was rough.I haven't tackled the plugs on the JT yet, my worst tuneup was on my 03 F250 with the V10. One hour for the first 9 plugs. Most of the day for plug #10. Last week I tuned up my wifes 05 TJ 4.0 45 minutes start to finish. Man I love that vehicle.
It is strictly noise reduction. I had to have a hack mechanic work on my jeep while on was on a road trip and he left it off. I found out when I went in to re do his hack job. Hope you didn't lose too much sleep over it.Son of a $&@$$))()!!! So last night around 11pm, I was watching a movie, and all of a sudden, I remembered. Dammit! Thanks very much. If it doesn’t support the upper intake, and is just for noise, I’m leaving it until the next time I need to remove it. Is yours still off?It is strictly noise reduction. Yes, the hack never gave it back to me so I don't have one. 10k miles since and no issues. Thanks very much. If it doesn’t support the upper intake, and is just for noise, I’m leaving it until the next time I need to remove it. Is yours still off?
Great news. Not the hack mechanic, but that your engine is fine. Louder?Yes, the hack never gave it back to me so I don't have one. 10k miles since and no issues.
Not that I can tell, but I am a bit deaf due to the fact I like my rock n roll loud. LOLGreat news. Not the hack mechanic, but that your engine is fine. Louder?
Outstanding. I only drove it a couple miles yesterday evening, but will fully warm it up on a 30 mile round trip in a few minutes. I can’t wait to feel the power gain on the on ramp. Not that I can tell, but I am a bit deaf due to the fact I like my rock n roll loud. LOL
