I dont get those foot rest any way.. it dont rest the foot it just holds your toes up. And places pressure on your heal bone.
Of those of you that have standards sow of hands as to how many shift and then leave toes on the pedal after reaching cruising speed ? Or does foot go back on the floor ?
Riding with toes on pedal will actually lead to problems .
So what does this " dead pedal" simulate ? Nothing absolutely 💯 % nothing.
You've never worked a desk job, I take it...........
Better on the hip joints, ergonomics. Slightly slanted foot rests were requested by almost 100% of the staff that were at a desk most of the time. Feet flat on the floor led to problems.
I suppose you have no problems with seats in airplanes (assuming you don't spring for first class)?

You don't have much choice with a stick, but with my car, there's plenty of room next to the clutch pedal to have my foot rest, not flat but at a slight angle, and I can drive for hours that way. The Jeep is pretty restrictive in that way.
The Grand Cherokee has a slanted foot rest built into the floor..
Not just comfort, but also has a lot to do with control. Using the dead pedal you can keep yourself solidly planted in the seat which helps with more controlled throttle and brake. I never really used the foot rest/dead pedal until I started doing trackdays.

I also recently explained the dead pedal to my fiance when cornering and braking. She had never understood it, but now she uses it and swears by it.

" Comfort and Fatigue Reduction:
The dead pedal provides a comfortable resting point for the left foot, which can help alleviate fatigue during long drives, according to TATA AIG.

Bracing and Control:

It allows the driver to brace their foot against the rest when maneuvering, enhancing control and stability, particularly in emergency situations or when making quick turns.

Prevents Wear on Pedals:
By providing a dedicated rest, the dead pedal minimizes wear and tear on the brake or clutch pedal, according to Wikipedia.

Smooth Clutch Actuation (Racing):
In racing, the dead pedal is an integral part of smooth clutch operation, allowing the driver to keep their foot on the same plane as the clutch for faster and smoother transitions.

Nailed it - and hitting bits I had left out or forgotten.
I've stood against that pedal more than once, it's a good brace on steep hills.
My wife noticed it in my JT and asked about it. She asked "why don't I have one". So I have one sitting here ready to install (bought for her as a Christmas gift) but the install in a 4xe is a bit different, more complex, than the simple 1 nut install in a JT.
Some other Jeep models have the floor shaped to act for that purpose. I wish the floor pan in my SX4 had space for one as it would make it a lot easier for clutching instead of raising my foot from the floor each time.

I loosened the clutch mechanism and rotated it so clutch lever is on back easily reached just in front of grill, I’ll post a picture when done. I will have a cover over winch but will still be able to use clutch lever and will be able to remove cover if needed to check line wraps. I don’t use my winch very often, and find it better to not just get stuck😎……Jack

Rebuilt bump stops arrived. They look good as new. I’m getting closer to being able to start reassembly.

My wife wanted a receiver on her car for bike racks. Not a Jeep, but what a nice easy install. I’ve not done a 1.5 hour car project I don’t think ever. No clips. Just screws and bolts. No drilling, no hardware even needed. The only “part” I used was some orange thread locker.

Might need an edit - can't see anything.

I have a DrawTite here I'd give away for local pickup, or 70 bucks shipped.

The reason I put a receiver on my Eagle was for bike rack, but actually haven't used it for that since both of our Jeeps can handle that job these days.

They’re showing up in my app. I’ll edit and resave though to make sure.

Many times we take the Jeep and her car camping, to for the dogs somewhere. It’ll be nice to be able to put bikes on hers and the trailer on the Jeep. Plus just the idea of not needing the Jeep to take bikes somewhere. It was our only car with a receiver.

Bingo - showing up perfectly now. That should work great for your purpose.

I should add that with the weight of 2 eBikes, and the 70 pound rack, I'm not sure I'd want that hanging off the back of my little SX4 which has ZERO tow rating from the factory!
Thankful our Jeeps can handle it just fine.
You had to pull a few things off to get to the nuts and bolts of things. Turned out fine.

Our hitch bike rack, currently for two, expands to four, but they don’t support more than two when using a trailer’s receiver.

Do you cry at all since it wasn’t a Jeep?
It was a little off putting, but figured I'd let it slide since there was a Jeep in the background of one of the pictures. Plus I know the ordeal your going through with your Jeep in pieces, so I didn't want to pile on. 😉🤣
