Took the JT into my friend's shop at Maui Off Road to mount and balance the 40's. One tire balanced perfectly, the other 3 took quite a lot to balance, but they did get it all to zero. Drives awesome :)

Yea, I’ve learned to adapt with my little welder. Once the military stops moving me every 3 years I’ll invest in a good welder. For now this works fine for 3/16 and 1/4.

One of these days I’ll get a Jeep or two up CO to get some wheeling in!
Yeah that's a problem part of reason I bought the one I've had for 25 years 120v. I finally bought a 220 one last year.

Mine became more and more naked over the weekend. The Freedom Panels had been off for a while. Friday, my wife and I removed the rear section of the top for the first time. Sunday, I removed the front doors and (after this pic) added doors off mirrors.

I'm leaving the rears on for now since my son is usually with me.

So what did I do to my Gladiator today. Got up at 0500, coffee and breakfast now off to change steering linkage, check brakes, and wanted to change transmission filter... That went to s### spent over a hour getting lug nuts off right side tire. Next the other tire same problems. The place that rotated tires used wrong size socket and screwed them up. The covers now loose correct size doesn't fit until you beat it on with hammer, 3 of the thin sheet metal covers had to be chiseled off. Phone rings... scam calls. Had to use MFH to pound socket on to remove lug nuts on both front tires. Checked brake pads still okay. Scam call number 2. Replacement steering linkage is was layed out next to truck to be easy to reach now so f###ing hot it would burn your hands. I go drink 3rd liter of water of morning. Say f### it, put tires back on with spare lug nuts, go inside to cool off read some threads here. Go torque lug nuts back down, check to see rear lug nuts are screwed, pick up tools, steering linkage, it's now afternoon. Get back on phone in AC read few more threads here, post this rant while miss having a garage or at least a concrete floor with shade. :headbang: 😳
Damn it sucks getting old

It would have blood, sweat, and tears on it if I were doing the same projects as you. šŸ˜‚
Those fluids are on there in quarts. What kind of fluid is associated with frustration? Cuz it’s there.

Same here. I have four soft doors, but the rears are still in the box. I don’t feel good about the possibility of a t bone without a real door protecting them.

Holy shit. I thought my projects were the only ones that go that way sometimes. I’d be SCREAMING at that tire shop. Maybe not screaming. But at home it’d be every four letter word I could find, mixed in with a few ā€œsorry kids, daddy is madā€ā€™s.

You know this made me think of something I witnessed over my career in the food & beverage industry. At some point my company (and a lot of the other companies we worked with) shifted from having a Quality Control department to a Quality Assurance department. While it was just a word change, semantics really, the connotation of that word change is a shift from active to passive, and I noticed that in practice from the QA teams. Personally, I saw it as a shift from saying "we are going to ensure that nothing goes out the door with a defect" to "we will let you know if we find anything out of spec".

The state of the world...SMH
Now do that with Aerospace. I first saw Boeing slowly layoff inspectors. Then I saw them outsource parts. Then those suppliers had no quality inspectors to speak of.
Now here we are…planes falling out of the sky and vehicles that don’t last as long as they should.

When they moved HQ to Chicago the pride started to die. They went from being family to employees in less than 20 years. Our techs found metal shavings in an equipment rack.
