Installed a set of Amp Research powersteps XL with my son and grandson. Grandson (in high school) is taking a liking to auto tech and such, so thought this would be a good project. Worked out great; in that it was great time together and the steps work! But I have a question… The bolts with conical washers that are used for attaching the linkage assy to the bracket are not pulling the bracket and linkage assembly together tightly when the bolts are drawn completely into the available thread depth in the cast aluminum assembly. The first attempt at tightening the bolts resulted in busted cast aluminum where the bolts pushed through. Disappointed In the instructions, or in my failure to read them correctly. Anyone else run into this??

Today I installed a Hotheads Headliner kit with sound assassin strips and the rear side panels. A buddy helped me take the entire hard top off which made the install a breeze. It made a big difference on the sound and heat radiating from the top. I'm glad I finally got it installed.

Belly skids are installed again. I had to make some modifications to the new gas tank skid to fix some LCA and crossmemer clearances. Then bolt holes didn’t line up at the transmission crossmember, so had to remove everything, loosen the tranny mounts, shift the crossmember 1/4” to driver, retighten, check clearances, and start again. Finally it can drive without a strap holding the gas tank in.

last summer I thought it was my soft top making most of the noise and leaking, until this this summer. I put the half doors on with the hard top, gaps noisy and leak.

Yesterday I came across a post on the JL site about gaps and half doors so watched the video and....

This is the moment, I realized I did the most "Dad thing" ever.
l never read the included, 8 page double sided with photos, instructions. nor watched the QR code linked Mopar video! ( ) those got tossed it in the in the owners manual bag. That meant that I never adjusted the 1/2 door hinges, soft upper mounts, or put in the foam shims.... I just un-boxed and sent them. (measure once curse twice)

So I did the adjustments.

Wow they shut nice now! they pass the doller bill test and garden hose test ... I'm going to hopefully swap the hard for soft top tomorrow (re-read those instructions too) ........lesson learned, I guess its time to start mowing the lawn in white New balances

Next venture originals. I’ve had them since 2022, but needed a replacement gas tank skid, and needed to rebuild my engine skid. Along with a couple new crossmembers. One was bent, and one was replaced to prevent it.
