Well in preparation for the arrival of my @Metalcloak baller joints I started the tear down today.......easy work thus far. Cleaning everything, chasing threads and copious amounts of automotive herpes aka antiseize.

Also, huge fuckin shout out to my man Dan aka @WILDHOBO for spending an hour on the phone giving my his experience installing the MC Baller Joints with his lessons learn. Dude, thank you.

A post w/o pics is lame ......so the current status of my JTM right now

Final note, the castle nuts were barely finger tight and only held in place with the cotter pins. Maybe check your, retorque and add new cotter pins ......truly unsat.

Wow. And that looks familiar. But you’re experienced enough to not have it look like that for 2 months.

And dammit if I didn’t need to talk to @Minty JL and @Stan H same day for their advice. I was underneath just checking paint marks and torques and found a blown front driveshaft boot. I’m leaving at 5am to meet up with @40x40 to do a week of hard trails. Not exactly what I was hoping to see. It happened in the last few weeks. Grease everywhere. The shaft was only like 4 months old. Oh well. The angle on the joint was too steep. It’s my fault it failed. So I had to pull it; swap the yoke, and put in a 1350 double cardan I had laying around since 2022. Just now finished. Not the day I planned, but now I can pack and go have fun wheeling.

Anyone know where the cable management thing in the picture goes? It was on top of my transfer case skid. I couldn’t figure it out, so it’s not installed. Oh well.

If it’s not mission critical, it can stay off this week. Thanks very much. Meeting John @40x40 in minutes to do Holy Cross. Them off to Moab. Here’s to a 10 rated driveshaft test drive! :)

I wondered how people get their cabin filters so dirty and I finally (think) I figured it out.
Do you drive with your vents mostly drawing air from outside the cabin? I keep mine mostly on recirculate and the filter is usually pretty clean after a year of use.
I always have mine on recirculate. Prob the environments I was in between crossing through dusty ass Kansas and high speed desert running at night on Lost World. My interior was filthy, I expected the filter to be nasty. I need to pull my K/N drop in and clean it prob too.

Getting ready for Great Smoky Mountains Jeep Invasion, a little overdue cleanup...
I use my sliders, so they had a couple scratches and some surface rust...
