This goes back to a Black Friday purchase….i bought a AMZ / YZona rear bumper with a swing out tire carrier. I’ve shopped every one of these that fit JT on the market, first off I was shocked at how much these have gone up in price this year, some reaching +$2K!! My BF priced shipped to the house was sub $500. This thing a beast, weighing in at 140lbs! It can take up to a 37” tire. The best latching system I’ve encountered on one of these, It even has a dead man lockout on the swing out. In the pictures attached the tire on the swing out is a 34” bfg ko2…my old back up spare. I’m waiting on the arrival of a new KMC rim to match the four on the ground and found a good used MTX MT to match for a new spare. Installed it myself with the help of my HF 1k lbs lift table. A couple of things to note on this unit; The main bumper was formed out of 3mm mild steel, using a CNC press and fully welded! Corner bracing is 6mm and fully welded! The plan is to build a winch frame that will bolt to frame in the old spare tire space, I’m waiting (not patiently) for HF to put the long drum Apex 5500 on sale. I’ll drop some pics as I get the winch frame welded up and installed.
Some thoughts on how it drove and handled with a new +140 lbs and the 80 lbs spare three feet higher in the air. The first day I could feel it, since then I have completely forgotten about it, except to see it in the rear view mirror. No sag on the bumper height after the install. Very pleased with it so far. Oh yeah, thought the Fede guy was going to blow a nut getting to the door. Haha.

Gonna be even worse for me. We don't have much level terrain here in the mountains of NH to begin with, and the boss lady has decreed the garage can't go at the level end of the driveway because it would block the view of the stream and woods behind the house. So the plan is to build it into the side of the hill next to the driveway. That mean not just a pad, but a full 8ft foundation on 3 sides. At today's prices, I don't even wanna think about the cost.
On the plus side, it will mean a tall ceiling for a lift, 9-10ft doors, AND a storage loft without looking huge and out of place from the road.
One bonus with that much concrete buried into the hillside, would be the geo thermal effect it would have.

You could always dig out enough to build a retaining wall out of eco blocks. Ending up with enough room between the building and the retaining wall to walk around all sides of the garage. Maybe even use that area for outside storage covered by the roof overhang.

🎵🎶On the 12th Day of Christmas @HFT, 🎄 they gave to me... a Badlands Apex Winch for $399. 🎶 🎵

My local HF this Monday had 24 of these stacked up in the middle of the floor, yesterday about 10AM they had two left!

Got the Attica Frontier liners and the KBD fender flares (unpainted) installed! Thinking I may LineX them when they start looking worn. We'll see. But there's plenty of room for the 35s that will be added come spring... Merry Christmas!

What bed mat is that? I'm looking for one to keep my stuff especially my fridge from sliding around.
Just a cheap Amazon one but it works perfectly for that! Nothing moves unless I’m really cookin’ and take a sharp turn lol

5 tire rotation and an oil change. First oil change since installing the Baxter Performance adaptor. Between the fumoto valve @WILDHOBO introduced me to/gave me his old one and the Baxter, an oil change is a breeze. So easy and clean its incredible!

Just read up on Fumoto Valves. That is awesome!!! I didn’t even know those existed but they could have saved me YEARS of frustration changing oil in the driveway under high winds. I might just put an order in here soon.
