I tend to think it also was traditional, the 1964 J-200 thrift side had taillights to the side while the townside bed had the lights mounted flush in the rear quarter panel.. it also fell in line with the newest Wrangler iteration.I'm kicking around the idea of the flush tail lights. I like them. But the quirky, factory bulbous tail lights can't help but make you think "Why did Jeep do this ?" and so they have a certain ugly charm.
