That would help in some spots. Lots of them are going into a hill. Probably would still work. Thankfully my wife will be helping a decent amount. If it goes slow, I’ll make one. Thanks. I love jigs. This is my first fence.

I have a similar one of these. Beats trying to use 2 levels or moving a level from side to side. Plus a good string line.
You'll get it done.

We do have a small auger on our tiny tractor. 9” and 12” bits. 32” long plus the 7” extension that arrives tomorrow. It’s still going to take a couple of weeks I’d guess. 85 posts.

As much as I’d love to say I’ll definitely get below it, we’ll see. Since it’s not a rail fence, I’m honestly not that worked up over it. If I need to repair a post every once in a while, so be it. But going 4’ down to build a 4’ fence would suck. And wire fence is more forgiving than rail or privacy fence. But I’ll get down 30” for the 6.5” posts. I’m going 40” or more for the corner posts. And those will get high strength concrete, and are larger.

Retired. Finally !!
My wife's old boss retired a few years back and her husband retired at the same time. They bought 38 acres out by LaGrange (yeah, the ZZ Top song area....). He said he was barb-wire fencing the perimeter of the whole thing. I asked if he was doing it; he laughed. He said "Do you have any idea how many posts have to be set ?". I had no idea. He had someone do it. Then he had a section inside fenced off and got 5-6 cows for the ag exemption. Then he had to run the fence line every day because the bull next door kept snapping his wire to get to the cows. Then his property got invaded by wild hogs (real bad down here). So he had to start shooting hogs 2-4 times a week. He said he averaged 10 or more hogs per night. Then the next morning go out there with his backhoe and bury the damn things; you couldn't give them away. At first he was leaving them be for other animals to eat, but the stink and the nasty buzzards started hanging around was too much.

When we went to visit, he asked if I wanted to run the fence with him. I said sure and started walking. He laughed and said we ain't walking it, and got his side by side. 38 acres is a LOT of land !! Fortunately, no popped wire, but there was a couple bent posts where the bull was pressing against. He said the bull presses against a post (metal) and keeps pressing until the wire snaps, then steps over. Pretty smart.

He said he works more and harder now than before he retired. Between patching fence line, fixing what the hogs destroyed and dispatching the smelly things, he misses his desk job. He said his biggest gripe at work was complaining that no one refilled the coffee pot. LOL.

Back on topic -

I installed my new-to-me Bulletpoint RubiGrid Mounting System. Rock solid and well worth the 50 bucks ( :) ). I have 2 cell phone mounts, action camera mount, hand radio mount. The mount arms are in blue, matching my Jeep. Awesome set-up, top of the line !!

But (there's always a but) here's the catch; I don't need it. Well, to be clear, I don't need it to be mounted on the daily. My flip phone fits in the little cubby perfectly and connects to the radio; no need to touch or look at the phone. My wife keeps her phone in her purse. I own a real old GoPro that I haven't fired up in years. My hand radio is in it's case in my Man Cave.

Like I've said previously, I don't leave my Jeep "kitted-out" like I'm ready to hit the trail in 10 minutes or less. Sure, I have all the gear, all the gas cans, water cans, coolers, ropes, tents, etc., but it sits in the garage until I go DO something, I see no need to tote all that crap all over town 24/7. I've been four-wheeling since I was 16 and I don't think I've ever had the immediate sudden urge to hit a trail RIGHT NOW. Need it ? Load it. In my lifetime I've never said, "Hey, let's go camping !!" and pull off the road. Hell, I don't even leave a sweat jacket in my Jeep once the weather warms up. But like I always say, "Your Jeep, your Rules".

I think I'll be pulling all the arms off the RubiGrid and leave the grid and balls in place. I like a clean dash, all them empty arms poking out is just unnecessary clutter. But it DID give me a legitimate reason to get rid of all them ducks in that dash cubby....lol. But, my wife is looking at that rope thing that you can hang the ducks on; she loves them.

I now have more Jeep Jewelry for when I need it....if ever.

when going into a hill just make sure you’re flush/level all the way down the grade. Strings help. When you hit a new grade run another string. You’ll be a lot happier with how the fence comes out if it’s on a residential. Hate seeing wonky fence lines in a residential area. If it’s back 40 and just for function it doesn’t matter quite as much.

I’m not looking forward to the grades, which is most of it. Hard to plumb the posts with the earth and have the fence follow the grade.

But got some Jeep stuff done today. Added waterproof disconnects to the aux reverse/bumper light harness. Reinstalled the bumper and bed sliders, the lights, and the wolfbox rear camera on the tailgate. All working. SO much left to do on the bed, but had to roll out to pickup kids and go get more fence tools. The second Oem steel bumper is pretty much shot. Neither light fits flush anymore due to bends in it. Oh well. Still works and doesn’t touch anything painted. So screw it.

Sounds amazing. I wish. I’ll be starting an 800’ fence project. I’d rather be wheeling with you though.

Bring a flat bed and you can borrow the tractor. But Chris’s is closer. 😂
