I've been putting off the transmission change, how'd that go for you? You do the whole 30 step temperature process or just drain and fill?
Drain and dropped the pan. Cleaned everything up. Changed the filter in the pan. Install it. Pump fluid in until it started to run out. Put the plug in. Start the engine and let it run for a while. And run through the gears sitting there. Got the temp up to about 100F. Put the plug and top it off until the fluid started to run out. Put the plug back in. Cleaned everything up under the Jeep. Then took a ride to get everything up to temp. Came home and checked for leaks. It only took 5.5 qts to refill it.

I can see why they sell the pan and filter together. The pan gasket is part of the pan. Thank god it's reusable.

While not my Gladi, I did finish up the cap build for my buddies. More photos in my build thread.

As far as my truck, I ripped the drawers out of the bed to rebuild the cabinet for them. I originally built them out of 1/2in ply, but need to rebuild with 3/4in. Also started a DIY 2kw diesel heater build in a Bauer modular toolbox. Designed and 3d printed a few pieces for it yesterday, should be able to get that wrapped up this weekend.

Done. Ended up with a bit of an uneven tapering gap between the side pods and the cut in the bed. There's enough adjustment I could make the gap even by lowering the leading edge but I opted for a bit of extra clearance.

Got around to changing out my door checks to the new quick disconnect style. The old ones were starting to pop when opening the doors. Much smoother now!
Part # and cost ???

Little fiddly shit today. Cut some brackets that are going to house a 50L water tank on top of the Decked drawers.

Peeled the old trail badges off the old rack panel and am trying to decide where to put them on the new rack panels.

My philosophy is not to mount anything that sacrifices clearance to the outside of the rack, so that's irrelevant aside from the backside brackets for the propane tank and the bottle opener.

Thoughts?

Driver's side is nice cause I see it every time I walk up. Passenger side is nice so others can see it when they walk by in the grocery store parking lot and know I'm only majority mall crawler. And that's the camp side.

Super important stuff today.

The hardest trail in terms of mandatory lines of those badges, btw, still Mesabi Trail.

Retired. Finally !!
Since my Bulletpoint mount now has a radio clip, I decided to get a couple GMRS radios (okay, that was my excuse to buy another toy....). I already have 2 HAM radios and I am currently doing the online course for my amateur license, basically something to learn and to occupy my mind...and I can press that transmit key on my 5 year old handheld instead of just listening.

As everyone knows GMRS radios require a license, but no testing. Simply apply at the FCC site for a license good for 10 years. I started that sentence with "simply" out of sarcasm. Having just navigated the insanely complicated FCC site, I now await my call sign and license.

Yeah, I followed all the rules and regs, but when I was done I thought, "I bet NO ONE goes through all this crap for a walkie-talkie license !!". Do they make it that complicated to reduce licenses to only those that truly want it ?? Or is it par-for-the-course government red tape crap ?

Has anyone here ever heard of someone getting busted while transmitting unlicensed on GMRS band ? I found 35 bucks for a 10 year license is worth the piece of mind, because it's MY luck I'd be the first one busted.... I got that kinda luck.

I wonder the same about getting caught to be honest. But I get the license anyway. However, like you said it’s well hidden and not as easy as it used to be to find online.

I installed my trailer hitch light. It’s a neat little pop in that adds extra reversing light and DRL function too. You can buy a slightly more pricey version that gives you extra brake light as well.

All very simple plug-n-play with the included 7 pin in-line bypass harness you just plug in to the rear of the OEM trailer wiring outlets. Thus keeping your trailer plugs free and useable.

The metal lighting module comes in a plastic hitch insert that slides right in to a 2 inch hitch. (They include a 2.5 inch insert as well.) So if you want to tow it’s super easy to slide out, disconnect the wire and insert your tow hitch.

Alaska gets dark for many months of the year, I’m a proponent of any extra light. LOL Waiting to test the reverse light when the other half gets home as my legs are long, but not that long! 🤣
