I still need to figure out the GMRS license. I did the registration and all that but couldn’t navigate to the payment section. Kept kicking me all over the place. I’ll have to call and get er done one of these days.
It’s so clunky the way they have it now as you complete the license application in one section then have to bump over to their other system to make the actual payment.

They wanted extra money to re-activate my old call sign as well, so I just applied for a new one for half the price instead. 😂

I installed my trailer hitch light. It’s a neat little pop in that adds extra reversing light and DRL function too. You can buy a slightly more pricey version that gives you extra brake light as well.

All very simple plug-n-play with the included 7 pin in-line bypass harness you just plug in to the rear of the OEM trailer wiring outlets. Thus keeping your trailer plugs free and useable.

The metal lighting module comes in a plastic hitch insert that slides right in to a 2 inch hitch. (They include a 2.5 inch insert as well.) So if you want to tow it’s super easy to slide out, disconnect the wire and insert your tow hitch.

Alaska gets dark for many months of the year, I’m a proponent of any extra light. LOL Waiting to test the reverse light when the other half gets home as my legs are long, but not that long! 🤣

And here is the reverse light in action after my assistant got home to shift her in to reverse for me. Pics aren’t great as it’s Alaska in the summer, but you can see It’s a nice clear white light and really makes the reverse lights in the OEM brake cluster look yellow.

^ I'd be bashing that thing when I offroad. 😂

RTT mode has now been activated. Think I might hit up the San Juans this weekend, the Alpine Loop is already cleared for the season, crazy stuff.

Is this the no popping wheelies set up? sure as hell I’d snap that pup tent in half first dip in the trail.

They, the government wants you to get license to talk on a radio? How about a license to talk on the cell phone? How about some paper to cover my dirty butt, wait that has been covered by the rolled up paper industry, does that need a license to use? HAM kids, I’m buying one today to put into service, come get me, I’m right here, need an address?

I'd assume due to the potential for interference.

GMRS radios are locked in to certain frequencies, low ability to interfere with other comms - so ultimately nobody really cares if you have the license.

Amateur bands, much higher probability with interfering with other comm systems both personal and government - likelihood of causing havoc is higher, seeing as you can reach around the world and into space. So, licensed to make you easier to find and fine. With the right equipment they can triangulate your radio signals anyway - no address needed. Some amateur radio equipment can get you killed anyway so that's part of where the education and licensing comes in handy.

And of course the government loves a good ole fashioned cash grab.

I have a technician license and call sign but haven't sat down to play with it yet.

They have been cracking down on GMRS a bit more in the last year or 2 though. HAM I’ve used sparingly on the trail but only when nobody else had a CB when that was my method of comms and a buddy had an extra HAM handset. Way back when. I’m not licensed in anything comm related. I listen to HAM but don’t transmit. Dont even have a talker attached. It’s more of a know what the heck is going on in my immediate or intermediate area so I know about fire direction and emergency type stuff like that.

I wish I could have gotten Gator, but it's a 2020 color so unfortunately no diesels. Gobi would have been my 2nd choice. Only reason I ended up with white was because I just happened across it at the dealership in town who got it in on trade. It hadn't even made it to the lot yet, so it was either jump on the opportunity before anyone else snatched it up or spend who knows how much more time searching.

Not opposed to Mesabi, but both Cylas and I are admittedly a little hesitant with it being up to a 9 rating depending on where you look. IIRC you stated most wasn't too bad except a few select spots?

Couple of rattle cans of black will fix that white up in no time.
Spray on some big dots and swap the stickers for ones that say "MOOOJAVE".

locks your passenger axle shaft to the differential carrier. Without the shaft locked you will not get any drive out of your front axle even in 4wd.

Very nice! All you need now is some custom Wall-E stickers, that would be a hell of a build.

Retired. Finally !!

That's the reason I decided to get the GMRS license; I didn't want to be #1 Guy Busted. Likely ? No. But I got luck like that... I've always said that if I was in a crowd of 200 people at the beach and a lone seagull flew over; he'd crap on me.

I'm doing an online training course for my HAM license, you can also test online now. I wasn't looking to being stuck in a room with a bunch of radioheads to take the test....

Now, how did I get a chat going about radios in the What Did You do TO Your Gladiator forum ? Easy, I got a radio mount added to my Jeep, clicked in a hand radio, then started asking questions. Helluva reach topic-wise, I know.....lol.

Well, I stripped the tape loom up past 2 Christmas trees, no cracks kinks or breaks. BUT, when I removed the harness plug, the clip lock was not engaged. So, hopefully the plug was just coming loose, causing the intermittent "SERV 4WD"
