I have this one and it's one of my favorite tools for doing DIY mods now 😄

https://a.co/d/07a83jJ2

Though sometimes one like this would be preferable

https://a.co/d/04ZKSLkB

When I don't have a lot of room to get the other one in a space and open the arms out all the way.
I got one from Harbor Frieght with a 30% off coupon. Haven't used it yet but I will be using it alot soon

They must not have had that one in stock when I bought mine a few years ago - it looks like I would have bought that one as a good local option.

Retired. Finally !!
This morning while out in the driveway, sipping a cuppa Joe, JBL speaker playing Classic 70's rock (at a respectable volume), a morning walker that I see every day comes by. We typically do a head nod or low wave. This dude is in his mid/late 80's if he's a day. I gotta give him his props for his morning routine. I whine when I go upstairs and remember I left something downstairs.

I'm messing with my Jeep, as usual. He stops on the sidewalk and asks what I'm doing. "I'm clay-barring my paint." and I show him the flattened lump of clay in my hand. "You're what ?" he asks. Now he walks towards my Jeep. "Clay-barring. It removes containments on your paint and leaves it smooth for waxing." "Never heard of it." "It's not new, been around for years, I did this as a kid.". I thought I set myself up, this old dude is gonna say, "You're still a kid.". He didn't. That stung a bit....

I said, "Watch. Run your fingertip lightly across here.". He does. "Feel all that grit and stuff ? Like sandpaper ?" "Yes I do." "That's environmental crap stuck in the paint. This Jeep is freshly washed." I sprayed some Griots Best of Show Detailer on the paint, rubbed it down with the clay, then wiped it clean. "Now feel it.". He did, back and forth. A smile came to his face. "Pretty cool, huh ?". He shook his head up and down. Then he went for not-clayed to clayed a couple times. He says, "Amazing.". After watching me a bit, he resumed his walk.

You know when he gets home he's going to tell his wife what happened. And she Will. Not. Give. One. Damn.

So that's what I did to my Gladiator today, clayed it and made a new friend. Old friend, but hey....

That’s an awesome day. And I’d tell my wife as well. And she would not give a f.

Clay barring really is one of those things that you show to people and they're like 'wow'.

It's one of the single most important things you can do when detailing a vehicle. If the paint isn't slick dirt is just gonna stick. When it sticks, its harder to wash. When its harder to wash, you're just damaging it more to get it clean. And so on.

Sometimes I feel like a five year old telling my ole lady something.

Yknow how you do with kids.

'That's really nice honey' while turning away and making this face 😬

That's ok we have things we both like together so not all hope is lost 😄

Yep. I think it’s weird when partners do EVERYTHING together. No law that says you need to have everything in common.

We spend a lot of time just 'co existing' and I love it.

Sometimes I'm in the bedroom playing video games on the PC while she is in the living room watching a movie.

Sometimes we both at the dinner table building Lego sets and bullying each other on why the other one is taking so long 🤣

Just livin'.

Same over here. She hates the Jeep, but will spend time on the couch watching her TV show while I try to read the book I originally sat down to read 30 minutes prior to her suddenly needing to watch a TV show. Then she asks me questions about the show that I'm not paying attention to, and I have to explain how they talked about that 15 minutes ago in the show.

Oh, another thing I did....chalk test my tires.

On Friday I went to get chalk. We have no kids, no blackboards, so no need for chalk in our house. Go to Wal-Mart. Big ol' buckets of sidewalk chalk. I need ONE stick of white, like they used in school. I do NOT need a big bucket of many colors. Give it to my neighbors ? Nah, with my luck they'd coat my driveway as a "thanks".

Office Depot. I look everywhere, I'm a guy, can't ask for help. Can't find it. Finally I ask for help. She takes me over to it. Great. Smaller packages but still too much and too many colors. All forlorn on the top corner of the pegboard......white chalk !! Small box, maybe 12 pieces of old skool chalk !!

This morning I put a big white stripe across all four tires. Do a lap around the 'hood, pull into the drive. I glance. Damn the luck, I parked with the chalk stripes down. Back up a tad. Back up some more. Hmm. Then I notice some slight dust in the treads. I blew on it - gone. You mean to tell me I had perfect pressure and it wiped ALL the chalk off ? I check all the tires. Yep !!

36 psi seems to be the number for me.

On Big Bang Theory, Leonard was whining to Sheldon about how he and Amy sometimes sit in the same room and don't speak to each other for 6 hours. Sheldon called it "parallel play".

My wife and I now use that phrase...lol

Sounds very similar to our marriage. She’s on vacation with the kids. I’m taking care of the pets. Totally normal thing around here.
