What is this symbol on guages - Circular A with exclamation

The dreaded A with exclamation symbol came up again for the 2nd time on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The first time, under warranty, dealer replaced the small battery for the stop start. If not replaced it will drain the main battery. The 2nd time the small battery died, I was told that I should leave the stop start on every now and then. This will keep the smaller battery charged. I did not know that. I was told newer vehicles no longer have the small battery but the stop start works off a larger alternator.

The batteries are charged when the engine is running. The ESS button on the dash has no effect on charging. The ESS battery is there to keep the computers stable during ESS events. When one of the batteries fails, it is usually best to replace them both.

The aux battery not only keeps the batteries stable during ESS events, it is their only source of power during ESS events, that's it's reason for existing.

Yes, that PCR relay is open, the crank battery is isolated and preserved, things run from the aux battery during an ESS engine stop event.
