Ahh ok thank you I was stumped it has a block off plate that’s removable so I was scratching my head if it can be functional why the block off plate?

Help keep out snow and rain.

It's really of little benefit since the stock air filter box pulls air from the grill area and the front right corner of the hood, rather than the engine bay.
But - it's cool and makes some noise.
