Just be careful if you take it to a dealer, some crazy ones out there might see a couple muddy water spots in the engine compartment and they’ll void your warranty. It’s crazy, I know. I’m sure most dealers are fine, but there are several horror story threads on here you can check out for reference. I always go through a car wash with a good underbody wash and inspect under the hood before I take it in for anything now. As for the recovery, looked good to me. Actually looked like a fun time. Sorry you got stuck! Next mods for you, winch and recovery boards!

Finally someone who understands how to use the TLDR function. It should always be up top!!! Thank you kind internet friend.
Also, accurate on potato video.... nice attempt though, I surely wouldn't have attempted that by the looks of that massive puddle.
I call that TL;DR treatment the "business TL;DR." It seems to be prevelant when sending emails to managers that never bother reading entire emails ?‍♂

Looked like a straight-forward recovery.
Caked mud/ clay can put your wheels out of balance.
+1 for this. I always have to spend extra time spraying down my wheels, brakes, etc. after off-roading in the clay soil around here. It will definitely throw stuff out of whack if it dries in place.

Think that was good enough?
If you are having issues you may want to remove the wheels and see if the backsides need sprayed.

There's such a damn fine line between "Let's use this thing for what it was made for!" And "Holy shit this is the second most expensive thing in my life right meow."
That thought goes through my mind every time I take it off the pavement!
For the most part I'm an "err on the side of caution" guy, but that doesn't make for good stories, lol.

I surely wouldn't have attempted that by the looks of that massive puddle.
"Unless you go, you'll never know!"

Like other have said, there’s probably still mud stuck on the backside of the wheels. I’ve even had mine feel like it was going to shake to pieces from sand. I pulled over and used a snow brush to get it off, but clay is more stubborn to remove. I try to avoid mud, but been there done that also.

I see nothing wrong with that recovery. You should have seen when I got my Canyon stuck, sitting on the frame rails in deep, deep (completely unexpected) sand. I had my canyon wide open in 4wd at 7k rpm (7200 rpm redline) in reverse and a 4wd Duramax was yanking on it wide open smoking the tires on pavement. If that didn’t hurt my canyon, you’re good.

That's one hell of a story!

That was frickin' COOL! Totally cracked me up with the stick action at the next mud hole, hahaha!

Besides the recovery vehicle being a little too sharp of an angle, only issue would be if the lockers were left locked. Otherwise the process was normal.
Here's a recovery out of a ditch with no issues.

Or at the 5:00 mark,

You just gave me a great email tactic, good deed for the day done. I really like my CFO, but I want to step on his foot sometimes when he asks a complicated question and then reads 1/3 of the complex answer.

The funny part of the story is that is was on a normally paved road. We rented a place in Buxton the last week of February 2020. We wanted a weekend getaway from Raleigh and we both like the OBX off season. We didn’t realize they’d just had a nor’easter and the paved road to our Airbnb on the beach had turned into a sand dune. We got there after dark and there’s basically no lighting there and I was in 2wd. When we stopped for a sec to see which unit was ours, I buried it because I had no idea the road had anything but I thin layer of sand over it. It was way too late but th time I switched to 4wd.

By the end you were rolling.
He could probably drag you at 90° in a circle with no problem or maybe crack a track bar bracket. They seem a little susceptible so it might be worth a gander.
I've dragged vehicles on pavement at a near 90. I'm sure my former boss - the wrecker/recovery guy, did worse. He'd pulled things out of ditches and fields at weird angles - including unibody vehicles. No damage.

Y'all, ShadowsPapa had spoken. If he says there's likely no damage, then it shall be likely no damage.

lol, agreed. If this did/does permanent damage then I'm buying the wrong vehicle, lol.

We've all bought the wrong trucks if any axle or frame damage resulted from pulling sideways on grease. Bent wheels - that's different, wheels do bend, but if you bent something else with a greased surface, we've got problems.

That was an intense watch! He paired that recovery with some epic music.
I love his commentary, his video was very well done, and in typical Aussie fashion, a bit of humor thrown in... "who put those sticks in the bush".
It's one of my favorite recovery videos. It's creative, he throws out his theory then sets to either prove or disprove it (with his pride and joy vehicle, no less!)
Sideways, up a dry, rocky side of a ravine, UP, not just across, and tires not rolling but being dragged - enough I thought they'd roll off the bead if they were aired down too much.
