You should definitely NOT have drilled of slotted rotors for off-road use. Too easy for small pebbles and debris to get stuck in them and just chew the hell out of your pads, and chip out the edges. In fact, drilling / slotting is pretty much ineffective for anything people think it's for, other than looks.

Drilling is to reduce rotational weight, and really should only be used if you know what you're doing.

Brakes are more effective with mass and surface area. Greater the mass, the more it can withstand heat; greater surface area the better the stopping power (not stopping distance - as that has more to do with traction).

If you run hot on brakes, slots are beneficial to help manage the gasses and spent material created by hard braking.

tl;dr:
Slots: good
Drilled: waste

Seems any race car has solid rotors.

The drilled/slotted look pretty.

The drilling/slots, in my research, helped with off-gassing. This is not supposed to really be an issue any more as pad material is no longer asbestos and material science has come a long way.

Solids are best. Slotted have their place. A few articles I read mention slotted are good for the rally guys that play in dirt and mud at speed. Helps clean the rotors/pads.

None of these issues plague a Jeep; unless your booming through the desert or forest service road.

FNC Brakes:
" Ferritic Nitrocarburized (FNC) cast iron brake rotors are proposed as a means to improve corrosion resistance, improve brake lining wear, as well as reduce corrosion-induced pulsation of automotive brake rotors. FNC processing of finish machined brake rotors presents challenges with controlling distortion, i.e., lateral run out (LRO). "

I have run Powerstop Z36 rotors and pads on several different vehicles including my JKU, they worked well for my uses. The rotors are both drilled and slotted, if I replace the brakes on my JT it will be with Powerstop Z36 rotors and pads, not because they are drilled and slotted but they work well and are reasonably priced.

We ran slotted in our race cars. I know a guy who ran drilled rotors and he ended up breaking them and crashed out of a race. Then the rulebook outlawed drilled rotors.

It depends on the application on what you should run.
