Strange thing happened this morning. As I was leaving I noticed my backup cam was displaying a blue screen so I pulled over and turned off the car thinking it was a weird glitch. When I restarted and turned on the backup cam it said service not available.... I turned off the truck and it started making this crackling sound in the dash. No smell like shorting or burning. It was a warm day so I had the A/C on.

After a couple start stop cycles I heard the A/C lovers adjust and the sound stopped and the cam came back to normal. Does it sound like it was a weird HVAC glitch or Electrical shorting?

The only thing changed recently is that my drivers visor broke and I installed those retaining brackets to fix it the night before. The screws were a little long??? Oh and over a year ago I lost a dashcam chip down the front window vent ;-)

Sounds like a blend door sticking. Might be the door itself and/or one of the electrical actuators and the linkage.

This is my preferred explanation.... Really don't want to imagine sparks in my dash. But like I said there was no smoke or smell and I have a pretty good nose for electrical fires. It was the first time so maybe something just didn't shut down properly.

3rd Gen Ram 2500's dashes would make noises like that sometimes. It was the blend doors moving. On mine, on a cold weather start up. It would sound like a lid on a coffin opening up with a creak.
