The protection rings were out of stock and i didnt chase them down after. Paid the price wheeling this weekend.

Any chance a wheel repair shop will be able to touch this up a bit?

they can smooth it and finish the repair. They won't be putting new metal where it was worn off. Many of us use tires significantly wider than the wheels to help protect the wheels from damage.

Im on a 12.5” wheel and 8.5” rim. There just wasnt any avoiding it on these rocks.

Smoothed out and painted is fine. The rings on the way.

Thnx

Hand file, sand and touch up paint. Quicker to do yourself than the time it will take to bring to a shop.

A good quality dremel with emory and/or fine grit wheel should smooth it out without removing anymore metal. I would find good touch-up paint.

Thnx guys. Itll get covered up by the rings anyway so smoothing it is most important.

I haven't tried it on wheels, but Lab-Metal works wonders as a metal filler. Not the cheapest, but I've had good luck with minor body work and metal fabrication (with ugly welds). There's also a high temp version that can be powder coated. I've seen worse wheel damage that have been repaired. Yours looks pretty minor. It shows it's not a garage queen. Good luck.

Realistically just take a file to it smooth it out with a dremel and go from there and touch it up,but if you really want to go the extra mile you really could take it to a shop for them to weld it up machine it down and then get it painted, but again by that point you might as well get a new wheel

Yeah...that would get expensive. Im thinking file/dremel/cover it with the rock ring and move on with life.

Thnx!
