I thought some folks were posting pics on one of the topper threads that their hardware has started to rust.
It was either the RSI or RLD...I thought. A couple of those threads are so long I cannot find the pics. I'm mostly wanting to know which brand it was.

However, seeing some of the stories of RSI's issues with shipments has me thinking that they are out of the mix for shipping issues. If the rust issues are RLD, then ARE may be at the top of the list. If it's RSI with the rust isses, RLD may still be an option, but I'll start making calls on availability and shipment.

Thank you for any info.

Cheers, j-

I have the RSI cap. Purchased it over a year ago and no rust yet. When I ordered it, I was given a 30-45 day delivery date estimate. Two weeks later I got notice that it was on the way. Those were Covid days and the labor force was pretty week as well as the supply chains.

The RSI smart cap is worth waiting for.

Post 7, that is not the case with mine. I also don't see any salt mist during the winter. It pretty much stays clean.

There was someone here that posted issues with the RLD canopy and the hinges for the doors rusting off. I think they were from the east coast.

I also have a RLD and it has been on about a year or so now. I have had no rust issues yet and dont see any beginnings to rust. The cap is supposed to be stainless steel. I have drilled some holes through it and did not do any painting or protection and so far no rust. I live in Montana and they salt the roads in winter.

However, I will say I am 99% sure RLD went out of business and closed doors - so I would suggest looking at other options.

Good point about the east coast/salty air. I live in the desert, rusting here is generally not a problem, but i like to travel to CO as much as I can.

I checked the RLD site, and, well, something is going on for sure. Thank you for the heads up on that one! I had been looking at pics and reviews on the forum so much I didn't think about checking their site.

I found a used ARE CX Classic with a bunch of upgrades I'll look at Monday. It has the side access doors with sliders, front fold down window, light and a few other options. The salesman priced it out to $4k, they are selling it for $2700. It's the wrong color but I pretty much planned on having it wrapped any way. So far it looks like it'll be a good deal. But, not until I lay eyes on it will i know for sure.

Thanks for the input guys.
