I have to ask……Why a drop-in??
Is it because of the cost??
Have you thought about a thick rubber bed mat instead??

I don’t know if anything has changed with drop-in technology, but….those things would scratch the shit out of the paint and trap moisture underneath making it easier for rust. I remember the guys (from years past) would put rubber bed mats underneath or do the DIY herculiner to prevent scratches. And after all that effort & $, they could’ve had a Linex done.

Do yourself a favor….. spend the $$ on a good quality professionally installed bedliner (like LineX,etc). You won’t be disappointed.

I have had a Rugged Liner drop in for close to 6 years and 75k miles, fits very snug, had a drop in in my Tundra for 10 years, no problems with either. Provides the best protection from dents and gouges, also have a soft roll up tonneau cover which works great, can roll it up against the cab when I need to haul something.

I have a rugged liner also has a nice tight fit, no drilling unless you want to have access to the holes where the trail rails mount. The liner goes all the way up to just under the bed rails. I believe when installing I had to remove the tie downs in the bed by the cab and then reinstalled them after.

I had a local Leonard store put a Rugged drop-in in my last JT, and would have put one in my current JT if it didn’t already have a Mopar spray in bed-liner when new.

Retired. Beach bum.
I only have used a drop in ONCE. That came in a 2003 Dakota Reg Cab 4x4, 5 sp V8 I bought new. By the time I was ready to trade I removed it for a good deep cleaning and was mortified to see the raised ribs and a few edges were worn down to bare metal and rusting, no other rust anywhere on the truck due to constant washing including underneath. From then on I have used factory spray in or Line-X. With a nice rubber mat, cut to fit into every corner. That helps prevent any dents.
